I've decided to take the plunge into 3mm with the Yom Kippur War. I bought several packs of Israelis from PicoArmor and dove in. The painting is not so bad, even the infantry. What I will have to adjust is my basing. The first couple of stands seem to have the rocky soil a bit out of scale. And boy howdy those Israeli troops are good at camouflage! So it is off tomorrow to Michael's to look at some finer flocking. But overall I am reasonably pleased with the first attempt.

For old man eyes that is awful small. I have a hard time looking at 5mm. Very nicely done though…

Nice work ! I'd think with the longer ranges of many of those modern weapons involved, etc. 3mm is appropriate. I just do 6mm, myself.

I use very fine sand for my bases in 3mm – I think it does the job.

I switched to a fine ballast from Woodlands Scenics. I am very pleased with the effect. Below are, from back to front, M3 half tracks, Sho't Kal, Sho't Blazers, 106 recoiless rifles on jeeps (right 3) and jeeps with MGs mounted on them (rest of front row)
