I'm very tempted by the Wanhao i3 V2 Duplicator 3D-Printer at just over £300.00 GBP GBP.

I want to print 15mm scenery and the occasional building plus a VSF tank or spaceship or two.

Is this one suitable ? Can anyone share a photo or two of its out put ?

Thanks.

Paul Ward of Matakishi fame has been documenting using this type of printer here:

In the end he changed to this very slightly more expensive printer and got much better results:

I have a printer that prints superbly in ABS but it did cost me £1,200.00 GBP

I have seen parints from these and they do look acceptable. From what I read you need version 3.

I am close to getting this one – link

but what is "Buildtak" and why do I need it ?

Canuckinator02 Jun 2017 3:28 p.m. PST

Buildtak is essentially a thin piece of adhesive backed plastic with a very finely textured surface. Said surface is designed to optimize print adhesion to the bed as well as make removal easier upon completion of printing. The theory is to use it on your bed surface rather than painters tape, hair spray etc.. There are a number of competing products such as Lokbuild or the soon to be released EZ Stick by GeckoTek (makers of the GeckoTek build plate which is a different spin on the bed adhesion concept).

As for the Omega i3 – I wonder if it is a clone of the Anycubic i3 Mega or if it is the other way around? Interesting…
