Darryl: As I've mentioned before, you and I (and Oh Bleeped text) seem to share alot of similar interests. I have flirted with starting a Carlist War project. I'd recommend getting this book by Conrad Cairns: link

It has uniforms, organization, maps, orders of battle, color plates, etc.

There is an Osprey coming out in December. I am probably going the 15mm route, the Totentanz range looks amazing.

I was also seriously considering it being my next project. Also in 15mm using Capitan Games' range. Useful stuff in that discussion, thanks!

I can suggest two other books: "The Carlist Wars in Spain" by Edgar Holt (although I have no idea whether or not it is still available – mine was an "unbound advance copy" from New Zealand ;-)) and "The British Auxiliary Legion in the First Carlist War 1835-1838" by Edward M. Brett (ISBN 1-85182-915-6). I have the Perry figures, BTW. bNow I only need to paint them… (;-)))
