This weekend the local HMGS-South group played a Sudan game using The Sword and the Flame colonial rules (20th Anniversary Edition) and the Gunboats and Dhows rules. British forces were tasked with recovering captives, a river steamer and supplies taken by the Ansar. Ansar units were hidden on the table and more arrived on turns 3 and 6. The boats used were made by Last Stand Dan.

That really does look nice. I love seeing lots of the old Ral Partha figures – they were some of my very first gaming miniatures, lo those many years ago…

Thank you for sharing!

We used the excellent "retribution" scenario from TMP' poster and well-known Florida gamer Sgt. Guinness, as published in the TSATF Scenario Portfolio 2016. It turned out to be an exciting, very well balanced scenario. We played 9 of a possible 12 turns, and it came down to the last die roll allowing the British to re-capture the remaining supplies and go ahead by a single victory point.

I wanted to put it on since it had everything great about TSATF in the Sudan: gunboats, a desert fort, a town, Ansar artillery, hoards of cavalry, lots of troops, palm trees, and an oasis!

Dan asked for feedback on his latest Gunboats and Dhows revision, so I hope to put on several similar games this summer.

My group played this a few months ago. A very good and balanced scenario.

NC1717, great looking game.

Fl Tory, thanks for the kind words. I love that scenario, I've run it more times than I can remember.

I've played all of Chuck Turnista's scenarios and can honestly recommend this scenario portfolio to everyone!

I can't wait to play the other games in the TSATF 2016 Scenario Portfolio.

Cheers,
JB
