Title: Pedestal: Malta Convoy of August 1942
Author: Peter C. Smith
ISBN-13: 978-0947554774

Great book covering operation Pedestal. The convoy that saved Malta. Battleships, aircraft carriers, crusiers, destroyers, submarines, torpedo boats, dive bombers, level bombers, torpedo bombers and neutral forces. It's got the lot.

the naval war in the mediterranean 1940-1943 By Green and Masignani is the best I have read, gives a well balanced account.

Engage the Enemy More Closely (Correlli Barnett) gives a good political/strategic overview. The German Fleet at War (O'Hare) is good for some of the minor late war actions when the Kriegsmarine took control of some of the Italian destroyers and smaller units.

War in the Mediterranean, 1940 – 1943, by Bernard Ireland is excellent. All books by Ireland are a gripping read.

Another endorsement of Green and Masignani's work. Very comprehensive and even-handed.

Struggle for the Middle Sea by O'Hars.

For something a little different, you might look up The Ship, by CS Forester. Its a novel of a single action by a British light cruiser in the Mediterranean in WWII. They are fighting heavier Italian cruisers. Great action, and gives a human look at the fight.

Thank you for the suggestions. I already have The Naval War in the Mediterranean 1940-1943 By Green and Masignani, but I'm almost done with it. So looking for something new for after.

In Passage Perilous by Vincent O'Hara. This book just focuses on the June 1942 convoys in the Med.

I will have to third the recommendation of Struggle for the Middle Sea. Good detail on the engagements, but you catch enough of the big picture (and I learned more about the French wartime political situation from that book than anything else I've read)!
