As the title says having recieved the rules at the weekend I have played through a small solo test game to see how they go.
A few pictures of the fight:
More pictures and a more detailed look here: link All in all they look like a very good set of Napoleonic rules, very pleased. Dave. |

That was good to read. I would have liked slightly more rules explanations so it is a shame you didn't feel your previous write up was well received Thanks for sharing though Marc (still waiting for my birthday to open my copy) |

Thanks lads, Marc, I know what you mean but people don't seem to realise how long it takes to write up a report to a depth like the one I did about the Pickett's Charge rules. Each set of photographs usually require about paragraph to explain how the rule attaining to it works. Dave. |

How would you rate these rules compared to others of this type? Where would you place these rules on a list of Napoleonic rules? First, near top of list, or middle of the pack? |

IMO high up there but this is only the first playtest just doing the basics, the 'high up there' is based more on the fact that I love Pickett's Charge (same writer same system) and I liked General De Brigade, same writer but G d'Armee is slightly slicker and runs better. Early days but we will play it regularly at the club soon. Dave. |

Dave – I bet! And I wil be the first to admit I don't post often on blogs – I get caught up with what ID I am supposed to use – "google account – what's that?". SO I actually use TMP far more for commentary than I would an individual blog. So I can only say that I always enjoy reading peoples blogs via TMP, and especially Naps battle reports. What I am looking forward to is seeing how the rules work for people in reality – Dave (B) is a seasoned rules writer but it will be interesting to see what sort of FAQs arise. Sadly, as I have got older, I find rules sink in slower to my brain these days, so I often don't "get" a set of rules on the first few read throughs or plays. Cheers Marc |

And I have now taken a quick peek at your Picketts Charge write up, and will read that properly tonight, but it looks good. I use Fire and Fury, but maybe I should consider trying a new set. Thanks Marc |
