Assault squad this time, or rather half of one.

I got these guys at Adepticon. Pretty impressed with the sculpting, less so with the casting. There was a lot of clean up and parts of the jump packs were being carved into shape. Probably due for a new mold.

I'll ultimately need a bunch of these but I think the next purchase will only be 5 more of the MkII guys and 10 more of the Mk IV ones. Most of my WE are in MK IV anyway and I'm guessing the casting will be cleaner.

That is only part of the reason why it took me so long to get around to them. Mostly it was because I was working on terrain and then Genestealer cultists as well as squads of Thousand sons, Space Wolf Grey slayers and space wolf scouts.

I just got another Betrayal At Calth set, my fourth, so I'm wishing I could just buy an upgrade kit for the jump packs and assault weapons for those guys rather than buy the whole pack. I'll probably get some chain axes for another tactical squad to make out of that.

Of the 30 marines that come in there, 3 are ear marked for heavy bolters to finish a WE heavy support squad and 4 are going to finish off a Thousand Sons Heavy support missile launcher squad.

I'll probably also make a 10 man plasma gun squad for the World Eaters out of some of them. I already have a couple of plasma guns so that should only take 8.

Once all of that is done my WE army will be pretty much finished.

Oh I really like that mk III armor. Very Iron Giant.

Are they from the burnng of prospero box? I'll have to get some of those. I've been looking for chaos marines for shadow war, but don't like any of the current style with giant head gear.

Were they tough to put together? The prospero marines look like they're in 7-8 pieces.

These are actually Forge World models, MK II assault marines.

They weren't too bad to put together overall. They are 7 pieces.

The prospero figures, of which I've assembled 60, aren't too difficult to assemble either though. The back packs are two pieces which is annoying but they go together quickly enough.
