These arrived this morning (thanks Too Fat Lardies) so I blogged about first impressions, a sort of surprisingly smelly unboxing and a good read of the rules…

Summary though is very period flavoursome with a good chunk of fun added in…

Sorry – a glitch published a previous thread several time. I hope this one works better.

Nice overview.

We used the command and control system and it was fun and adds a great deal to the game with very little effort – except the effort made to decide where to allocate limited resources to keep your plan rolling.

Thanks, Sir Able!

I received mine today but they have been put in the birthday pile (soon, my precious, soon). So this was a good read

I can see me painting up some more skirmishers. That way I can keep my units whole which suits me visually.

Looking forward to trying these out

Looking forward to receiving mine!

Sounds a LOT like Pickett's Charge, which is a good thing. I am excited to give them a read through.

I've added some of the very useful videos created by the publishers to flesh out my impressions…

Sir Able

Great to read your first impressions. As a game designer, I think Dave has knocked the ball out of the park with this set. I think you'll find the Command & Control mechanism plays every bit as well as it reads. Great fun.

Cheers

Rich

Having received mine this morning I've spent a great part of the day perousing at my leisure. Looks great, reads well.

As I've played 20+ games of Pickett's Charge the mechanisms are very familiar but the rules are definitely Napoleonic and not ACW in flavour. They actually look even more fun than PC, which is in itself fantastic.

Hats off to Dave, Rich, Henry at al. Top product.

Having sold all my Napoleonics some time ago I'm now going to try and tinker them for the SYW of which I have loads of figures.

Thanks for the review, champing at the bit for mine to arrive in distant Australia.

Fat Wally, my thoughts exactly, have loads of 18th Century troops but yet to find a set of rules that really grabs me. I'd be very interested in whatever you develop. Nick

PS. Der Krieg Kunste are good but I'd prefer the command level of General d' Armee

Fat Wally21 May 2017 2:45 p.m. PST

That's exactly my feelings too Nick. Happy enough with DKK but the C&C of GDA is so much better.

Got my PDF copy today, still reading but like what i've read thus far.
