No, not PERSONNEL--personal. My 15mm WWII in North Africa and the Middle East project nears completion, and I would like a recommendation of one really snazzy command vehicle at about brigade/division level for the UK, the US, France, Germany and Italy. To give you an idea, the UK vehicle will probably be Jock Campbell's open top former Ford station wagon from Operation Crusader. The US vehicle might be Robinett's M-3 halftrack, but I'll swap it out for whatever Patton customized for North Africa if I can be sure what it was.(I know it's an M3 halftrack in the States, an M3 scout car in Sicily and an M20 in France, but what was it in North Africa?)
Germany will probably be Rommel's personal halftrack, Greif--a little too high a level, but impossible to resist. I have no clue for France and Italy.
Any suggestions?

I have quite a collection of daft command vehicles, usually command variants with extra office/radio housings.

For France you can't beat a command variant Ft17.

I'm quite fond of the AEC Dorchester….

Of course as noted it would also depend on the level of leadership you are talking about. E.g. like an MBT would be used at Platoon or Company HQ Track.

At Bn on up you might have a Cmd vehicle like the AEC Cedric just posted. But in many cases Co Cdrs on up may also have a Jeep or Staff Car, etc. like bashy posted …

Along with at Bn on up a Command vehicle(s) like the AEC for their Operations Staff.

As I said, looking at brigade/division, which makes Jock Campbell's station wagon and Robinett's halftrack perfect. Of course I'll have to build a couple of AEC Dorchesters, but they really are too high a level, and no one else built anything like them.

Rommel's halftrack and Patton's 3/4 ton--I think there was also an M3 scout car--are still too high a level as persons, but they're something you can see a brigade or division commander using.

So--other than converting an FT-17--no ideas for France or Italy? Come gentlemen, my ignorance doesn't let the rest of you off the hook. There is a French armored brigade in Tunisia and various Italian mobile formations. Have we got any clue what they used?

Didn't the Afrika Korps capture some British ACVs and use them as their own? Max and Moritz ring sone bell.

Rommel mentions the sdkfz263 in his memoirs, but he never rode in one. It was a basically an armored radio truck, not a command vehicle as we would think of it

Having just found out about the Skoda Turtle armoured car, and learning that the Wehrmacht pressed them into service as command vehicles, I'd love to get hold of one in 15mm
