Pray tell when the Picts were classed as English ? I suppose he is being anachronistically cheeky. Picts invade "England" (Northumbria? Mercia?) and are intercepted by Vikings. |

Sorry, as an American, I sometimes am not quite sensitive to the regional differences of Great Britain. This hypothetical battle could have occurred in what is modern day Scotland, around 900 AD. |

Referring to a Scot as 'English' might be equated to calling someone from the Southern United States as a 'Yankee'.
Now our relationship with the Picts is somewhat odd. To paraphrase the Declaration of Arbroath: we are the Scots. We came from Ireland and destroyed the Picts, so the land is ours now… Nice report though! |
