"The main character is Johan Gustav Dåådh, a former army physician from the Russo-Swedish War (1788–1790). Dåådh joins the Stockholm police, in an attempt to change, or at least improve, the system from within. He is a modern thinker in an old hierarchy. Torn between alliances, he solves crimes among rich and poor. He is inspired by the French revolution and the new ideas of his time"

("But I never look at the front page,my friend!"--yeah,yeah, I know).

Anyway, the odd thing is,the DVD set says "Season One", but AFAIK, there was never a second.

Misplaced optimism, I guess.
