I know Archive had the Imperial Dragon in the '70s. Can anyone think of an older dragon miniature? buckyball |

I think I painted that, it was very big and had a lot of pieces. I'm not sure what it was but some guy gave me a caste iron dragon over a foot long. Some kind of giant made of the same materials. |

Der Kriegspielers, Dragontooth, Heritage, Martian Metals, Ral Partha, Asgard and Minifig, among others all had Dragons in the '70's. |

Minifigs Mythic Earth Dragon (ME 58) from 1972 is certainly a candidate: link |

Not sure about the oldest, but certainly one of the greatest. Heritage Fantastiques 1091 The Great Dragon Smaug. I introduced some paper and pencil D&D players to miniature back in days of old. Showed them a 25mm hobbit and then Smaug. They were not prepared for the size difference. |

I didn't have that, or the Minifigs. I did buy the first Dragontooth:
Still have it. Mine's red. |

Does Gary Gygax's Stegosaurus with Pterodactyl wings count? |

No clue what the manfacturer was, but I've got a dragon mini that is from the late 50's or early 60 s that came from a set of toys that came with a knight on horseback that I believe was supposed to be St George…it used to be my uncles that he got as a kid from my grandmother. No labels on it about who cast it, but it does have a mould line…and the paint job they both have is not that good if the remains of the color is to show anything. Not sure what metal was used either… |

I seem to remember a really old metal (tin?) figure of a hydra with wings that must have predated the 70s. Dan |
