With nearly 1,000 more TMP members than Peru, and 5,000 Americans wishing they could relocate there, SHOULD California have its own TMP board?

Silent Pool16 May 2017 7:37 a.m. PST

Visit California This Year spokesman Jed, says …

Winston Smith16 May 2017 7:38 a.m. PST

Let them secede first, then we can talk.

Battle Phlox16 May 2017 8:33 a.m. PST

No because then they will think only the rules that they want to follow will apply to them.

Joes Shop Supporting Member of TMP16 May 2017 8:45 a.m. PST

No.

National GDPs and States GDPs, 2015 (USD, in millions):5. United Kingdom 2,849,345. 6. California 2,424,033. 7. France 2,421,560. All we have to do is move the lead belt from Nottingham to California and we're set!

Doug MSC Supporting Member of TMP16 May 2017 8:47 a.m. PST

No!!! And I live in CA.

Larry R16 May 2017 8:59 a.m. PST

No

I'm with Winston. I'll back secession and a separate board, but secession should come first.

Where does the 5,000 figure come from, by the way? California's had a net outflow of US citizens for some years now.

Cyrus the Great16 May 2017 9:19 a.m. PST

As the Dead Kennedys proclaimed, California Uber Alles!

ACWBill16 May 2017 9:24 a.m. PST

Odd question.

Zoltar Supporting Member of TMP16 May 2017 9:30 a.m. PST

Why was the question asked? It seems odd.

Personal logo 20thmaine Supporting Member of TMP16 May 2017 9:31 a.m. PST

Yes. Why Not? Go for it. thumbs up

zoneofcontrol16 May 2017 9:32 a.m. PST

"Where does the 5,000 figure come from, by the way?"

I took it to mean that 5,000 California residents were desperate to relocate to Peru.

John Treadaway16 May 2017 10:43 a.m. PST

I don't care much but I'd no more want one than a NI, Welsh, English or Scottish board (as opposed to a UK board).

Unnecessarily divisive.

Just my two Euros worth…

dualer16 May 2017 10:48 a.m. PST

+1 to John. I live in Scotland and have no need for a seperate board. We already have a UK board.

Patrick Sexton Supporting Member of TMP16 May 2017 10:52 a.m. PST

Strictly negative.

KSmyth16 May 2017 10:58 a.m. PST

Sure, as soon as there is a Washington State Board, a Pierce County Board, and a Puyallup Board.

Ed Mohrmann Supporting Member of TMP16 May 2017 11:53 a.m. PST

Absolutely ! Then those of us of a mind to could
IGNORE it !

JeffGrein Supporting Member of TMP16 May 2017 12:04 p.m. PST

I find this question very troubling. Kind of trolling for negativity.

Mako1116 May 2017 12:06 p.m. PST

No, since then, someone would want to TAX it too……..

shirleylyn16 May 2017 12:22 p.m. PST

Or as Bad Religion once said "How could hell be any worse."

Gunfreak Supporting Member of TMP16 May 2017 12:39 p.m. PST

Well 95% of post by norwegians on tmp are Gunfreaks. So I think he should have his own board

Who said that?!

Silent Pool16 May 2017 1:23 p.m. PST

Well, The Norwegian Wood.

I once had a girl or should I say she once had me …

ZULUPAUL Supporting Member of TMP16 May 2017 1:24 p.m. PST

No & I'm one who doesn't want to move to California.

Shagnasty Supporting Member of TMP16 May 2017 1:32 p.m. PST

Second ZULUPAUL's comment. And i wish more of them would stay there and not move to Texas.

jdginaz16 May 2017 1:58 p.m. PST

More like 5000 who want to leave CA. Here in AZ. we keep getting the refuges many of whom seem to want to screw up AZ like they did CA.

Cacique Caribe16 May 2017 2:37 p.m. PST

And "5,000 Americans wishing they could relocate there"? Where? Here on TMP?

Lol. Well, I'm not one of those for sure. :)

Dan
PS. I'd be ok if they seceded, though I think they would quickly become Chinafornia soon after:

wrgmr116 May 2017 2:48 p.m. PST

Seems a tad overdone to me. So, no.

JMcCarroll16 May 2017 3:12 p.m. PST

Dude! Surfs up so no TMP!

Allen5716 May 2017 3:25 p.m. PST

Do I understand that you propose a separate board based on the number of members from California? I don't wish to be dawghoused so wont call you what I think you are. Perhaps you should go set up your own website and invite all Californians and California wannabes to leave TMP and join your new California Miniature site.

Oberlindes Sol LIC Supporting Member of TMP16 May 2017 3:51 p.m. PST

Chill out dudes. California is way too laid back to, like, have its own board 'n stuff. We'd rather just hang with the rest of the world, like we do when we're on our surfboards, skateboards, snowboards, watching billboards go by on the highway, cutting sashimi on our redwood cutting boards, you know, like, totally.

Gone Fishing16 May 2017 4:20 p.m. PST

This thread ROCKS! But seriously, like totally what my bud Oberlindes Sun Licks says!

Cacique Caribe16 May 2017 5:59 p.m. PST

Lol. I also thought that Californians were all about just live and let live … and then I ended up working there for a few months and realized that wasn't really the case. :)

I was born and raised in California and still live here at 61 years old and I say no to a California board.

As an Oregonian, my view is that California actually counts as a separate planet, so why not?

That was the Beach Boys as I recall…

Yes, the People's Worker's Paradise of California expects and demands its own TMP Board.

It will, of course, become the model of discourse and efficiency, just like UC Berkeley.

Also, in order to follow the democratically determined mandate of ever increasing taxes to be spent on programs meant to give a helping hand to those who are unfortunate to have been born in a less wealth family, oppressed freedom-loving race, or a misidentified gender which was defined by the Patriarchy, you will all have to pay $25 USD for the new California board, whether you intend to ever use it or not.

How DARE you withhold the money that our brilliant governor, and his trusty sidekicks, deem that you are allowed to keep of your ill-gotten gains.

Of course, if you deny climate change or insist that people actually HAVE to be a citizen of this country in order to vote, collect public welfare benefits, receive in-state tuition breaks, and qualify for financial aid for higher education, then YOU must pay TRIPLE!

And if you think leaving and never coming back here will absolve you of your absolute duty to pay up, think again. The State Franchise Tax Board agents will find you, confiscate all of your possessions, and force you to listen to 8-track tapes of the Village People until you confess that you are racist, sexist, genderist, elitist, bigoted, and that you belong to a white supremacist organization.
