I just finished buying pretty much everything I'll need for my 40K Genestealer Cult army.

Retail was about $205. USD I bought one set of the hybrids and the Deathwatch: Overkill boxed set.

That gets me 26 3rd and 4th generation hybrids, 12 of the other hybrids, 2 genestealers, 4 aberrants and three characters.

It looks like the marines from the set are going on ebay for at least $40. USD

Looking at what I have I probably have all that I really need to play the way I'd want to play with this army. The truck thing is pretty cool but I can't really envision doing really massive battles with these guys.

I may get another set of the 3rd and 4th generation hybrids to fill those guys out to three squads of 12 but that is about it. I have a bunch of Genestealers left over from Space Hulk but I'm not sure I want too many purestrains in the force, maybe 2 will be enough.

That isn't bad at all, with the additional boxed set it would be up to about $200 USD again and all the stuff I'd want. Right now I have 47 models for $165 USD if I sell the marines. I'll have to dig out the White Dwarf with the rules in it and figure out what are street legal unit sizes.

Well done! Post here again when it's all painted up and ready for your first battle.

Too bad but one of the FLGS had Overkill along with Betrayal at Calth on sale for 50% off during free comic book day.

Oh and even at that price they were still not selling.

Nice start to an army but 47 would be to small for me needs to be around three time that size.

I like what GW did with the cult just socks that they killed it off and went with with Nids.

The Deathwatch Overkill game itself is pretty fun – I wouldn't offload the marines just yet.

There were later expansion rules for the multiparty genestealer kits:

Hey Mithmee, send me the name of this place selling those games at 50% off. I'll call them tomorrow and buy them both.

"I like what GW did with the cult just socks that they killed it off and went with with Nids."

They didn't. I just put together a Cult army. I think maybe you missed the entire point of this post.

Pictors is an evil evil man. You'd probably rather get the WannaCry work than click on that link.

LOL great link Pictors.

Mithmee… What? LOL.

What? You can buy a Genestealer Cult army composed of all new models that are absolutely beautiful…

The truck thing is pretty cool but I can't really envision doing really massive battles with these guys.

I highly recommend the truck. I got one over the weekend. Fantastic kit. I also bought most of the bits for one from a bits seller. I assembled the bits one and will be using it as a burnt out 40k pickup work truck in the underhive in my Shadow War games.

I also snagged a copy of Overkill and will be getting a couple boxes of the hybrids this summer. Actually I really hope they release a Start Collecting! set for GS Cult.

Pictors Studio15 May 2017 6:37 a.m. PST

If they do, I'll probably buy one.

If I get the truck, and I like it, it will probably mostly to be used as scenery rather than as a AFV. I'll probably also get some of those cool cars from that company that makes sci-fi cars. I got the Servo Haulers at the same time as I bought Deathwatch: Overkill so I'll have a pretty kitted out table.

I just need to buy the Realm of Battle city boards next.

Space Ghost, I'm actually not going to off load the marines. I think I'll probably put together a big campaign with a Genestealer cult for SW:A and allow each of the factions to have, and keep, a special operative for the campaign, sort of like an adviser.

For the Imperial forces this will a Deathwatch member, for the Genestealers it will probably be one of the 1st or 2nd generation hybrids.

The first couple of models from the Death Watch: Overkill set to be finished. Five more are on the table now and should be finished before I go to bed tonight.

Next up are the rest of the Aberrants.

After that two purestrains.

The Aberrants, as promised.

A neat mix of monster and man. They really seem to work with the theme of the army. Like everything was going fine. We had hybrid cultists and acolytes and purestrains but then along came the Bleeped text-up fairy and here we are.

picture

I also realized too late that you can assemble either body with both weapons. I would have done this to get some more diversity in appearance. For plastics that came with the game they are pretty well designed.

Plus they were some of the easiest models to paint in the army. They aren't my favourite of the figures they released, in fact they are probably my least favourite, but I still really like them. Probably 8 is the max I'd ever want in an army.

Awesome stuff!

Pictors Studio27 May 2017 1:00 p.m. PST

Thanks. I finished 2 purestrains and 3 more hybrid initiates yesterday. I'll get pictures posted when I get back from the hospital and have had some sleep. I almost have 3 other initiates done too, 3rd gen ones, so I might finish them off first.

Then I just sprayed some more of them plus the leader guy.

Here are the latest additions to the force. I now have 16 3rd/4th generation hybrids. They need to be split as there are two more heavy weapons than I can use. I have an additional three more painted but they aren't based yet.

I'll need another box of them to round out what I own to three units of 12.

While I'm at it I did some of their Deathwatch opponents too.

Great work! Those miniatures are pretty cool. I remember the old-school hybrids from the old Space Hulk expansion back in the day…love them auto pistols!
