Between painting Middle Eastern DBA armies, I found time to start and complete two long awaited terrain features; an oasis and dune. I have posted a brief description of their construction with photos at my blog, just follow the link. link Cheers, Robert |

Nice work on the oasis! Where would I find your article on the dune? I couldn't find an obvious link that led to it. |

Very nice looking! Cassiopeia must be in the proper alignment; I've been working on dunes and oases for DBA this week too. Basing the palm trees today. |

@ Skeptic, That may have been poor wording on my part, but the dune are the same form and sand colour as the oasis. I explained cutting similar shapes but of different sizes (2BW x 4BW, 3BW x 5BW) I could increase the defender's choice of placing a small or large oasis or dune. The photo does not do the work justice, but there is a subtle shading to simulate an undulation of 'sand'. @ miniMo, We have DBA this Wednesday and the new terrain will be used; oasis, dune, gully and dry river (wadi). |

Very nice and thanks for a helpful tutorial. Drybrushing the palm fronds first and then doing a green wash sounds like a good way – I was doing the drybrush afterwards on palm fronds. |
