In my latest blog , our guest writer Jonas Jones shows how to get the best from the Irish rebel Command pack. It's surprising just how many variants that you can get with some very small conversions, even on metal figures. You can read the blog here:

There are some great pictures of flags made by Flag dude as well – our favourite flag suppliers!

I was just watching "Death Comes to Pemberley" with my wife, and the United Irish rising figures prominently in it. Realizing I knew next to nothing about this, except that the French landed troops at one point, I read the Wikipedia page ( link ) . Near the bottom there's a list of all the battles and a short description of each. You could totally do most of them 1:1. Quite a variety of scenarios and outcomes. Grisly number of massacres, however!

Edit: DCTP is pretty thin compared to the book, BTW.

Years ago while rummaging through a second hand store I came across "The Year of the French" for $1 USD and figured what the heck.

Winston Smith, are you taking notes?

I've got The Year of the French on my shelves but never have gotten around to reading it! I need to get moving.

Yes I enjoyed reading it, definitely got my money's worth.

I traded my '98 troops to epturner a while back. Somehow I'm still painting some French. grin
We made up some good rules on the fly for Irish "mob" units.

They're still "in the family", so to speak.

I'll make one comment on Trent figures. They're STURDY.
They will never snap off at the ankles. grin A lot of fun to paint, though.
I had a lot of leftover 25mm farm implement heads to fit on the Irish "pikes".
I have no idea who made them, and they're all gone.
