Can someone tell me which, if any, regiments of foote (on either side)are believed to have worn green at Edgehill? |

Hi Asgard, Hampden's green coated Parliamentarian foot link were at Edgehill but not on the battlefield initially, being back with the baggage train iirc. For the Royalists most regiments at Edgehill are unknown in terms of clothing colour, and many likely still in civilian clothes. |

Hampden's – link – though they were late to the fighting. They may have been the only ones in green – link suggests that there is no evidence for any Royalist regiments receiving uniform coats until after the battle. |

Even if you don't fancy painting an entire army in civilian clothes and decide to paint your Royalist foote in clothing they would be issued at a later date, still no green uniforms- sorry. Nobody knows what colour clothing the following Royalist regts wore, so you could paint them green without anyone arguing. Belasyse, Fitton, Stradling, Beaumont, Molyneux. But as the gentlemen have said almost certainly nobody wearing green on the field at Edgehill. |
