link I will certainly give it a shot. The last movie was great. I actually liked the Stallone one too. Can't go wrong with Dredd. |

One of my fave characters. I'll be watching. |

Holy Drokk! Hope they get Karl Urban to do his Dredd again. |

Fingers crossed it actually happens, and is along the lines of the Carl Urban movie. |

Loved the robot from the Stallone movie. Not sure how the the TV show will do with such a 2 dimensional character. Like Punisher, boring as heck by himself but team him up with DD and you have some fun :) |

Last film was excellent, if they can catch that vibe it'll be a winner. |

Cassandra Anderson MUST return! "Crime? Don't even think about it!" |
David Manley | 10 May 2017 3:13 p.m. PST |
I hope they make it faithful to the comics, unlike that rather dreadful film with Karl Urban |

I hope they make it faithful to the comics, unlike that rather dreadful film with Karl Urban Obviously talking about Jackson's The Two Towers, because Dredd was great! |

Another cheer for Dredd. If you do the commentary track for The Two Towers, some screenwriter with approximately zero screen credits explains how if only Tolkien, the best-selling author of his century, had attended a creative writing class, he'd have written The Two Towers differently. I was going to say she was probably right. Not much decent fiction since the start of creative writing classes. And then I heard C. S. Lewis saying "Influence Tolkien? You might as well try to influence a bandersnatch!" |
David Manley | 10 May 2017 9:05 p.m. PST |
Dredd as a standalone film was ok, but it had precious little to do with the source material |

The only problem with the Stallone version was that he took the helmet off (something Dredd rarely ever did…) |

Karl said he would not do television again. This was last year at awesomecon in DC last June. |
Dwindling Gravitas | 11 May 2017 7:29 a.m. PST |
Totally agree with David Manley. Yes, Dredd was a pretty good shooty sci-fi movie, but it wasn't Judge Dredd. The city was all kinds of wrong, too. |

While a lot of people razzed the Stallone Dredd movie, as a longtime Dredd fan I liked it a lot. To borrow a line from a friend of mine who saw it with me: "It's so refreshing to see a movie based on a comic book that's actually based on the comic book." I'll hold out the best of hopes for the TV series. SLUNDIG VIR THRIGG! |

Stop saying "Jackson" when we are having a nice conversation about a Dredd TV show. I'm trying to drink a cup of coffee while I glance at my phone and I've already spat a significant portion of it out on the floor. Stop it please John T |

Agree with those who favor the Stallone version. Only thing wrong with that was Stallone. The Urban version was enjoyable but change the police get up and it could have taken place in the Bronx in the 1970's more plausibly than in the Meg. |

Nerd fight!! Meaning I will get in on this too. Something new for Dredd ? Yes. Maybe follow on a different path. Part comic part either movie. Canon can be in the eye of the beholder. To some it could be these movies over the comics. It isn't what draws you to Dredd it is the fact that you like it.

I never want to hear another blasphemous word about that Stallone movie ever again. Stallone committed the ultimate betrayal of Dredd fans by removing his helmet. Don't get me started on Rico… Any Perps that claim to have liked that movie should get life in the Cubes. Carl Urban should play them some Guns'N'Noses… They should be force-fed Flab-On until their belli-wheels crush under their weight. It simply did not exist. Even if I did like the jetbikes. Does NOT EXIST….. *Maxim sticks his fingers in his ears* LA LA LA LA LA…. |
Maxim C Gatling | 11 May 2017 3:04 p.m. PST |
OK, ok. I will concede that the first movie…which did NOT exist…would have been the best if Urban played Dredd AND Rico AND did not take his helmet off. That's as much as you'll get out of me. Stallone…ack! I'm having seizures… |

Dredd movie… NEEDS MOAR KNEEPADS |
billthecat | 17 May 2017 12:15 p.m. PST |
'…a future east coast US turned into a crowded and crime ridden megapolis…' …future? Anyway, yeah, I'd give the TV show a spin. Keep your expectations low, and you might not be disappointed. might be good enough, even if not totally faithful to the comic books. I doubt it will be faithful to anything except contemporary formulaic TV writing… |
The Angry Piper | 18 May 2017 3:07 a.m. PST |
Only thing wrong with that was Stallone. You think it's a good idea to put Rob Schneider in movies? I must respectfully disagree, sir! I'll happily watch it. I love Dredd. |
