I just discovered the joy of Kill Team in time for GW to kill the game. My experience here: link |

I like Kill team too. Its chance to collect stuff for armies I might not normally play as I only have to invest in a dozen or so figures. No one is stopping you from playing kill team. As long you and your boy are having fun keep on playing. I expect to be able to find cheap 7th edition codexes all over the place in case you want to start new forces. I havent had a chance to play Shadow War. I have two copies still sealed. Ive heard that it is a bit undewhelming. Its more a watered down version of Necromunda than anything else. |

Yes, that's the beauty of Kill Team. I have no intention of fielding an Eldar, Dark Eldar, or Chaos Space Marine force, but all of those are appealing as Kill Team factions. Will definitely pick up some 7th Edition codices for more forces once 8th Edition drops and they get cheap. |

I've been playing KT too when I needed a change of pace under 7th edition, but I've totally embraced SW:A. Rules wise, SW:A is just superior in every way imaginable. |

Gameplay wise, SW A is definitely the better game. The campaign feels a bit thin but it gets the job done just fine. |

I'm a little confused: isn't Shadow War basically Kill Team? All the pre-packaged forces for it are called Kill Teams; is that not right? |

Shadow War is basically Necromunda and based off the 2nd edition rules. They call the teams kill teams because….they like to confuse us, I guess :) |

I remember Kill Team being an "official" thing but that was a few editions ago. I didn't realize it was still rolling with support from GW. |

It seems everytime you turned around they were releasing a 'new' edition of rules. Ive told others, as long as you and friends have a favorite version or particular set of rules you enjoy, dont worry about the latest or 'Offical' version. Just stick w/ what you like and Have Fun! |

For anyone looking for a replacement, my club & I maintain our own Kill Team knockoff rules, available here: link There is also a micro-campaign with a variety of missions and some simple narrative aspects. We'll be updating these rules ASAP after 8th edition comes out, as we're already committed to running a number of Kill Team style games at the NOVA convention later this summer as part of the 40k Narrative. It works really well there as something people can drop in & play on a whim over lunch and so on, without having to get a new rulebook, learn new rules, etc., as you would for Shadow War. |
