So far my research for late 70's Panzergrenadiers (under Heeresstruktur 3) has come up with the following organization. Does it seem correct?

Battalion HQ: 2x SPz Marders with MILAN upgrade

Mortar Company with 6x 120mm Mortars

3x Panzergrenadier Companies, each with 16x SPz Marders with MILAN upgrade

Each company was made up of 1x Marder for Company HQ and three platoons of five Marders each. Each platoon was made up of 1x Marder for Platoon HQ and four Marders for the four infantry squads. Each squad deployed 6x dismounted Panzergrenadiers armed with an M2 Carl Gustav, a PzF 44, an MG3 and G3 rifles for everyone but the machinegunner.

Dismounted MILANs were not in use yet, nor were HK69 GraPi's.

Aside from that, does anyone know the Jägerkompanie organization for HS3? I've seen the HS4 organization (with three 11-man squads per platoon and two integral snipers)… is this unchanged from HS3, or was HS3 very different?

I've only seen very cursory info, for the Jagers, but that sounds about right.

My info said 10 men per squad, so 11 works, assuming the driver stays with the vehicle (truck).

3 x 3 squads/platoons, per company, plus a little German jeep for the HQ.

Sorry, don't have info on the snipers.

I've got this from the internet some time ago. However the Heerestruktur 4 is wrong it should be 11 Marders.

The HS3 dismount team was 7 troops from the Marder, there was also quite a lot of HS30's (Spz Lang) still around in the mid 70's.

I suspect that the Milans were on paper but might not have gone out to the troops until the mid eighties. Be nice for one of you ex-conscripts can correct me.

Not an ex-conscript, but you are correct about the Milans being slowly rolled out for the Marder units at least.

1 per platoon in the early 1980s, then two a bit later. Not sure if they ever got to one per vehicle, but would hope so.

HS-30s had 5 dismounts, IIRC.

Thanks Mako.

Actually, the MILAN modifications to the Marder IFV were complete by 1979, which would mean a 6-man dismount by the end of the decade. Note, this is prior to the Marder 1A1 (which was just called a Marder A1 back then).
