This is a good chunk of the opposing force that will be meeting my growing set of 15mm Frenchmen, also by Peter Pig, in the mud of France. They will probably cheat a little in appearing at the beginning of the Verdun offensive (where they should really stick to their picklehaubes) but as I understand it from mid 1916 onwards they should be quite at home. I'd love to see more of these packs (I'm working on a few minor conversions to give myself a few dedicated trench cleaners) but what is available already is excellent. Great detail and nice poses. And again, surprisingly tough metal. More photos here if you're interested: link

Amazing painting. Great blending and hilights. I wish I could paint like that! I also enjoyed looking at your French. Very inspiring. |

Thanks very much guys, glad you like them. Prince Albert's Revenge, for what it's worth I actually don't do any blending. That's too intimidating a prospect for me even in larger scales, let alone 15mm. I just try to keep the highlight colors not too much brighter than the darker shades beneath, and then as long as no one is looking too closely the gradation can appear relatively smooth. |

These are beautiful! Might I ask what rules you will be using? I was doing Trench Wars in 28mm…. I moved away form them and reinvested in Peter Pig 15mm…. Then, out came FoW WW1….. I am torn…. WW1 I think works great with Trench Wars in 15mm…. even keeping the ranges… and only minor tweaking… My hard decision is do I go ptn level bases… much more practical for WW1 massed inf assaults.. or…. do I keep 15mm and do individual stands like you did….? Yours are awesome. |

Thanks very much Poniatowski, I'm glad you like them. These figures are intended for TFL's Through the Mud and the Blood. I've just about got enough figures to get some games going, and am in the process now of making terrain boards. I'll post some pictures of those as they shape up. If you feel torn between individual and platoon bases, perhaps you could compromise by basing them individually but also create some sabot-style group bases that they could attach to. It's more work of course, but lots more flexibility too. I guess the real question is what sorts of actions are you most excited about playing. I'm excited to be able to play platoon level games (as in the total number of soldiers on a side does not greatly exceed a single platoon) where if I want to I can track the fates of individual solders. |

@whitejamest, thanks for the info AND.. PLEASE DO post any board updates! I will have to pick up those rules now! thanks! For playing.. I honestly liked the Trench Wars style 40-ish man platoons with 3-4 ptns on the board at a time per side…. I think I will take your suggestion.. and work toward some sabot-style ones later… I could for now just use cut magnets for ptn of half ptn based and easily pull them off for skirmish style!!! I used to do the 28mm Trench Wars games, but the collections became HUGE…. I like the 15mm as the games can become much more tactical! For my ambitious board project.. I will be using my hot wire foam factory cutter… they are great!!! |
