I've mostly finished my 15mm 40K Ultramarines (still have another assault squad and a devastator squads to do, plus chaplain, apothecary, and other infantry characters). All of the vehicles, shoulder pads, jump packs and terminator weapons were 3D printed at home, with all the files (save the terminator weapons/shields) available on Thingiverse.

Great job, and nice idea! |

what 15mm minis are you using for space marines? |

A very hearty round of applause, KJ! They look fantastic!!! The Land Raider is particularly impressive. Were the Thingyverse files you found intended for 30mm, or were they designed for 15mm? Are you planning on printing Chaotic opponents or similar? |

Excellent looking project. Obvious question, but what's the printer and the material? I can see some lines on the top Rhino and the heavy bolters on the Land Raider look a bit messy, but overall not so bad as some resin kits or indeed commercial plastic kits. The bottom Rhino looks pretty crisp. |

Timely: I was just thinking about your project last night! This continues to impress and inspire. |

Can't really see the space marines…What figures did you use? |

The marine figures are Khurasan's Post-Apocalyptic Federal Power Armor and Heavy Power Armor (terminators) troops. Most of the Thingiverse files are for 28mm models (printed at 55%); the Vindicator and the missile turret of the Whirlwind are from Epic-scale models, printed at 225%. The Sicaran is nominally a 15mm file, but is slightly too large (see the Thingiverse page for details). Reduction of the smaller/less detailed components (such as the gun bays on the Crusader)can lead to sub-optimal results unless they're edited to conform to the minimum resolution offered by the printer's nozzle diameter (and, to be fair, the original files aren't all that accurate in the first place). The regular marine/assault marine shoulder pads are another example of this; while they retain their basic shape, the tactical/chapter markings look a mess up close on all but the terminators. The not-so-hot Rhino above is a remix of the original files so it can be printed in 3 pieces instead of 5 (the storm bolters are imported from the Land Raider, and not part of the Rhino files). I printed the side walls/treads vertically on this one instead of horizontally, which is why the striations are visible (as opposed to the second Rhino, which is printed from the older file version, and had its sides printed horizontally). All of the printed parts were made with a FlashForge Finder at .10 resolution in PLA plastic. |

I do have a few Chaos vehicles floating around. Since Iron Warriors don't really dig the spikey thing, they look pretty similar to the above (albeit dirtier). Ion Age Prydian Knights and Khurasan Heavy Power armor for scale:

I find for scaling this chart works very well -- I have a resin printer and did up the rhino and was amazed at how well it scaled with my figures at 75% of original file --- I have always thought the 28mm versions are not true to scale of how large a space marine should be
