Looks like the type of weapons system missing in Western forces – a 'low' element to provide the numbers of useful but cheaper and (less complicated?) units for when the expensive stuff is just too expensive and not really necessary.

There is a pronounced tendency to shout down Chinese technology – dangerous, remember Pearl Harbour and Japan in 1941!

Looks like an F17 (the land-based predecessor to the F18 naval fighter). This is not a bad thing.

The only part of Chinese tech I shout down is their QA/QC. WHEN the Chinese get a culture of making good stuff like the Japanese built in the 1970s and 1980s, the Chinese military will become really damn dangerous.

But right now, Chinese engines don't even last a tenth as long as Russian engines, and Russian engines last maybe a tenth as long as US engines.

My husbands brother was a A-10 pilot in Iraq and Afghanistan, and said the warthog was so loved not only by the men what flew them, but the men on the ground that were helped by the attack plane.

He said it was not uncommon for a soldier or marine to walk up to him and shake his hand and thank him after telling a story that included the A-10.

As I understand it, the A-10 is on the choping block. Maybe Trump will keep the warthog flying…
