I use mainly Americana and Folk Art craft paints for my miniatures. Can anyone recommend appropriate colors for the British uniforms for the Boer War (the second one)? I'm open to suggestions to other brands, though I would probably have to order them and have them shipped. |

I haven't painted British colonial for quite awhile, but I recall several colors that were good. Tey were either Folkart or Apple Barrel. I've used – Trail Tan, Territorial Beige and Honey. Te latter being the lightest and "yellowest". For webbing, pouches etc., I generally use Delta Parchment. |

I painted a base of that colonial tan then wet brush territorial badge a little at a time to get the look I wanted. Then dry brush a little with Howard Hues concrete. Flickr link. link |

I haven't used craft paints yet for khaki serge (later war), but for early war in khaki drill, I have had good results by painting with Delta Ceramcoat Bamboo followed by a wash of Americana Dark Chocolate. |
