As we are working hard on our three new books for HQC the artwork supporting the Universe is coming along quite well

This gives some indications of the wide variety of life upon Mars and Venus in HQC

Oh, great, the arthropoda ruled the earth for millions and millions, and they start somewhere new? *sheesh*

Ridiculously high oxygen, right?

What are those awesome cuttlefish-like critters that are hovering right above the surface of the water?

Dan
PS. I love semi-hovering alien cuttlefish types, if case you haven't noticed. :)

The hovering cuttlefish types are a lighter than air animal, originally native to Venus but transplanted to Mars by the aliens. On Venus they are often quite large and there are two basic categories, ones that eat the floating air krill and others that eat anything they can get their tentacles around.

My next question is … are they sentient? Most importantly, are they edible? :)

Not sentient, but very tasty!

Are those the ones to the left? Look a bit more like fleas to me. *shrug*

Of course I recognized the Anomalocaris, though I had to look the name up. I can only remember 'it begins with A, and has some thing about 'he who walked Ancient Egypt, Kharis the Cursed…' ;->=
