I was wondering if there was any consensus as to who makes the best tufts for use with basing miniatures? |
Joes Shop | 30 Apr 2017 7:03 a.m. PST |
I use Silflor – various heights. Example: link |

I find they're all more or less the same. Get a variety so you can mix them up. Like static grass I do find them a bit shiny, so consider putting on a matt varnish after basing. |

Gamer's Grass – self adhesive, irregular shaped, lots of different colors and lengths! If you're in the US you can get them here: link |

Joerg, That's definitely going to be linked to my favorites. Thanks so much. Dan |

The Good Folk. Leave out a bowl of milk for them, the bases, some hemp rope, a small sharp pair of scissors, and some white glue. They do an amazing job ^,^ |

Hi, I've only just bought my first tufts, as have been put off by the price in the past…couldn't justify the cost as they were a 'want' rather than a 'need'! But have recently bought some of ebay from 'war-painter' auction They came quickly and look good, but I've not actually used them yet. Can't say they are the best but seem good value to me! |

Warpainter does great tufts! Also check out Tajima1: link |

Joerg Bender… I just spent some money! Thanks for that link!! |

Thanks for ordering, Skipper! |

I think they are all about the same. When you find some in the colors you like, but a bunch of them. |
Codsticker | 30 Apr 2017 6:36 p.m. PST |
+1 for Gamers Grass, however what surdu2005 says is more or less true. |
altfritz | 30 Apr 2017 7:49 p.m. PST |
All the same, except Silfor is more economically packaged. Most others are less than a quarter the size. Some are just repackaged Silfor tufts anyway. |

I've been using Leadbears tufts (from down under). Nice quality and quite inexpensive. |

I second Wolfshanza's suggestion of Leadbear. Delivery is quick and postage is surprisingly cheap. You can find Leadbear's Tufts on FB. link |

My go to is Army Painter, just cause it was the first one I ever used. And it's easy to get. However I'm liking the look of the Gamers Grass, I will put in an order. Xin/Jeff |

Joerg, do you ship to Canada? |
Joerg Bender | 01 May 2017 10:53 a.m. PST |
Yes, I ship internationally. Send me an email with what you would like and I'll get back to you with a shipping quote. Then you decide if you want to place an order. Joerg thingsfromthebasement.com thingsfromthebasement@gmail.com |

Fredericus Rex / Greenline are really good. |

Thirded for Leadbear, Barry is great to do business with, and the tufts actually stick! (Unlike all the others i have tried). Great product. |
Codsticker | 01 May 2017 7:42 p.m. PST |
I was using Leadbear through eBay and they are excellent value. As I don't Facebook I actually had no idea he was still making them. |
Wolfshanza | 01 May 2017 10:23 p.m. PST |
You can reach Leadbear thru his email, also. leadbear@internode.on.net |
Wakefield Warmonger | 26 Oct 2017 1:50 p.m. PST |
Warpainter are excellent – they do sell you a kit to make your own too but you can get about 5 different types (close on 600 tufts) for about £20.00 GBP so you can mix and match. Lots of rocky / bushy / flower options. |
