I saw the photos of the new plastic dwarves and one that one shared online of a goblin or orc shown to them at Salute. But I did read that the plastic figures are coming out for a new set of rules from Osprey.

I guess it is not Frostgrave or Dragon Rampant or they would have told us that. So does anyone know about the new rules, when they come out, what they are, what is different to Oprey's other fantasy rules, etc?

I think that the driver is Frostgrave which is more popular than anybody had expected.

Supposed to be "mass combat". That's all I can dig up.

vogless24 Apr 2017 11:26 a.m. PST

Could it be the fantasy version of Heil Caesar?

wminsing24 Apr 2017 1:26 p.m. PST

Nope, you know about as much we do; all I've heard is that they are mass combat geared.

PS can link you the picture of the goblin? I've been scanning the net for a picture from Salute but I haven't been able to find one.

Dan Mersey is producing a new skirmish fantasy set of rules, could that be them?

wminsing24 Apr 2017 1:34 p.m. PST

Another set beyond Dragon Rampant?

Wminsing……. I wouldifi could find it again! I think it must have been on one blog with many photos of salute. If I find it again I will post it but it looked quite like the older mithril miniatures style of goblin so quite good in my view.

So we are thinking* maybe a bigger battle version of dragon rampant?mor maybe the fantasy hail ceasar. Interesting!!!

* okay not thinking but speculating :)

Garand24 Apr 2017 2:06 p.m. PST

Well Hail Caesar is owned by Warlord, & this is an Osprey operation from what I understand. So I doubt it will be fantasy Hail Caesar. Personally I prefer it that way…

Damon.

So's Bolt Action, but Osprey publishes it.

I know there's a fan set of fantasy HC blessed by Sir Rick floating around….

The "goblin" in the one pic looks like an orc.

I'm digging the old skool look to the minis. Hoping the new game is going after the Oldhammer gang. Any similarities to Dragon Rampant would be welcome!

Lowtardog25 Apr 2017 2:32 a.m. PST

Found on their face book page a reference to a battle displayed at Salute with gnolls against their barbarians, it references Osprey rules, however in the comments it is Dragon rampant that hey are using, so that may be what was seen

wminsing25 Apr 2017 4:29 a.m. PST

Yes, the Gnolls vs. Barbarians game was Dragon Rampant, in a cross-promotional event. Frostgrave minis but using the Dragon Rampant rules.

Nope, supposed to be all new.

I ran across a reference to Kobolds and Cobblestones: Fantasy Gang Rumbles for 2018 on another site, but it also says there's a speperate mass combat system coming for the minis….

wminsing25 Apr 2017 8:24 a.m. PST

Interesting. Do you have a link vogless?

Also, for reference, I think this is the new Orc/Golbin!

Man, I really hope they're going for the Oldhammer crowd!

Ney Ney25 Apr 2017 12:29 p.m. PST

Thanks for everyone's input. See,s there's not much known yet but maybe they are looking to replace their older games? I will be keeping an eye in this, I hope the new rules are good.

wminsing28 Apr 2017 11:14 a.m. PST

I don't think replace is the right idea; the new mass battle rules probably are larger scale than DR. Think massed regiments.
