I will be running the following Age of Sail events at HCon this coming July and TMP folks are warmly welcomed to participate. All scenarios will be run my "Steer to Glory" rule set – an Age of Sail gaming system that actually rewards good tactics and good seamanship. Basics can be learned in 10 minutes. I have been running "Steer to Glory" games at conventions since 2005 and can guarantee that gamers with any affection for the Age of Fighting Sail will have a great time.

GREAT FRIGATE ACTIONS – Frigate Captain Challenge Matches – War of 1812
A series of head-to-head challenge matches to be run in succession. Matches will be run continuously for as long as allotted time permits.
Contestants may choose from following scenarios –
- USS Essex vs HMS Phoebe & HMS Cherub;
- HMS Shannon vs USS Chesapeake;
- USS President vs HMS Endymion;
- USS Constitution vs 38 gun British Frigates HMS Junon & HMS Tenedos (fictional).
Each scenario will include certain situational nuances to challenge players' tactical skills.
After first game of a match, the players will switch sides and replay the scenario.
The player with best overall performance will be declared the challenge match winner.
Best overall performance among the challenge match winners will earn a prize.

"WILLAUMEZ vs COCHRANE OFF TORTOLA" – The Burdens of Command – 1806
French Admiral Jean-Baptiste Philibert Willaumez, commanding a squadron of six ships of the line sent to raid British interests in the West Indies, overtakes a small British detachment of four ships of the line under Admiral Alexander Cochrane in the waters west of Tortola. The weak British force represents an enticing opportunity for the French to exact a measure of revenge for Trafalgar. Both admirals are faced with certain tactical issues that will influence their conduct of the engagement.

NELSON & THE INSHORE SQUADRON – Toulon Blockade, 1804
French Admiral Latouche-Treville, having sortied the previous afternoon with eight ships of the line to drive off some British frigates lurking in the approaches to Toulon port seeks to return to harbor on the next morning's onshore breeze. Nelson and his five ships of the inshore blockade squadron attempts to cut off the French before they can reach the protection of Toulon's powerful fortress batteries.
