Another addition to the Napoleonic Personalities Range from Gringos40 (despite the name they are 28mm, they are excellent castings and very imaginative subjects). This, I am told , is Jean Lannes at the siege of Saragossa. It seems the result of a first prize in a draw, where Paul Hicks would produce a green of the winner's choice and here he is. Should soon appear on the website and is to be handed over at Salute today it seems

Must admit, when seeking images of him, I always think of Lannes as legless…I do mean literally, not plastered with drink. There does seem to be one painting regularly reproduced of him as below, doubtless Ged will tell us more;
Begs the question, probably worth its own forum…imagine winning this yourself. One figure…28mm…..anyone you choose….. |

That's a lot of lace work. |

Aha! Another very nice figure from Gringos40. Jean Lannes, one of the Emperor's best and closest friends. I have to get this one, too! Once again I'll be painting up 2 of them. One for me and one for the owner of the former "Napolean's" store in Shorewood, Wisconsin. Unfortunately, this figure won't grace the huge gaming table in the basement of the store, but will grace our display cabinets. |

He will take some work to do justice, as will most the personalities in the Napoleonic Range. Lots of lace for the highest ranks. Note how the chevrons on the leggings have the cross seams moulded in……this is quality stuff I think. If only he could look a bit more upbeat though. He does look as though the siege is not going too well. I would be tempted to just slightly modify personally (a tiny bit of summat in that downturned corner of the mouth?);

Still no Lannes available for order on the website. My buddy keeps asking when I will have the paint job done. Ha! I told him I don't even have it yet. |

Ged, No worries! My buddy should be more patient. After all, he knows how slow I am with the brush in the first place. :-) Also, love the possibility of Murat at Eylau! Many Thanks, buffalo |
