Any suggestions for suitable Vallejo colours and paint schemes?

Thanks,

Alan

Hello again! Once again I don't have Vallejo colors, but here are mine:

If you're looking for more accurate I'd leave the green off the helmets and knee pads; I did it solely because it was looking too plain to me with just black.

The uniforms are the old desert tri-colors, but I only used desert yellow and a reddish brown as that's what they tended to fade to.

I hope this helps, and let me know if there's anything else I might be able to help with.

V/R,
Jack

Looking good. What figures are they?

These are Rebel Minis' Modern US Special Forces. Here's a link to the whole force, which has a few Rebel Minis' SWAT guys mixed in:

Here's a link to Matakishi's work on some Mog minis, in chocolate chip.

A site I like to use is armorama.com and go to the "kitmaker sites". There is one "Historicus Forma" that is primarily figures. It's a model site but lots of tips & techniques that translate to minis, and the forums also have wargaming headings.

Alan,

Be advised:

1. Delta wasn't wearing any "Chocolate Chip" in Somalia, they were wearing Desert Tri-Color (US Army called DCU") with black gear and hockey helmets.

2. Rangers wore desert tri-color with choc-chip helmet covers and woodland camo Ranger Body Armor.

3. US Marines wore choc-chip everything (uniform, helmet cover, and cover over their flak jackets).

4. 10th Mtn Division wore desert tri-color uniforms with choc-chip helmet covers and flak covers.

5. The Rebel Minis guys I have are a little anachronistic due to their weapons. While their M-4s can easily pass as CAR-15s, the optics and broom handles aren't right. It doesn't bother me personally, but just wanted to let you know.

V/R,
Jack

Jack,

Thanks for that most helpful post.

Sorry to raise this matter again but I have a further query.

Which US forces wore knee-pads: was it just Delta or also Rangers? The Elheim figures show the Delta with and the Rangers without.

I believe AFAIK that is correct.
