Have you the dilemma of buying somethin you'll probably never use because it's really amazing looking…not even taking into account its cost?

a) Never

b) Sometimes.

c) Many more times than I would like

d) All time… I became worry about it!…

B…I usually end up regretting the purchase when I sell it for a loss.

Garrison's right; you always are at least aware of the cost. How else do you pay the man?

But yes, of course I've bought stray figures, terrain pieces and one or two small armies I knew were a mistake when I did them.

Cosmic Reset21 Apr 2017 4:45 a.m. PST

A. Never. I've never really been an impulse buyer.

C. If something is worth doing, it's worth doing to excess.

Never but then I am notoriously frugal.

I always take cost into account.

My impulse acquisitions are more in the nature of, "that's a really nice random object … someday I'll turn it into a piece of terrain/building/spaceship."

B, Sometimes. I don't know if I'll ever play the "Cthulhu Wars" boardgame -- but the game just looked so massive and cool, and I was worried that if I didn't buy it a few years ago when it was new and sort of discounted on Amazon, I'd never be able to find or afford it in the future. (At least I can probably sell it now for more than I paid for it then.) Sometimes I'm glad I moved early despite the cost, e.g. the Axis & Allies 50th Anniversary Edition, which went OP quickly and is today a hugely expensive rarity to obtain. But then I remember, will I ever really play some of the pricey old SPI games I bought in the past year? With hardly any old school wargame opponents? Sigh.

Great War Ace23 Apr 2017 12:52 p.m. PST

I'd say "A". Not that I have never, ever bought impulsively because of a case of "Oo! Shiney!", but because it has been so long that I have no memory of a case, time and place, when it happened. I only buy stuff that I will use; usually right away. Right now, I have everything I need, or even want, so I haven't bought anything new in figures for years. Well, one exception: I have fairly recently purchased some ruined buildings, and I am always on the lookout for more ruins. But I only want prepainted stuff……….

Weasel23 Apr 2017 3:26 p.m. PST

The list of things I WANT is an awful lot bigger than the list of things I OUGHT to buy :-)

UshCha24 Apr 2017 3:18 a.m. PST

A – not a modller so only want stuff to play.
