What are your top 5 most wanted miniatures "inspired" by famous people or characters? Off the top of my head, mine are:

Dog the Bounty Hunter
His wife
Samo Hung
Rudy Ray Moore as Dolemite
Kratos from God of War

rustymusket20 Apr 2017 8:55 a.m. PST

Don Quixote, standing & on Rozinante (horse)
Sancho Panza, standing & on mule
Aldonza, Dulcinea

Enough different Ewoks in one scale (28mm) to make a squad.
The Marvel "Warriors Three" from Tales of Asgard (and not the subdued movie versions.) Possibly a matching Thor figure.
From Doc Smith's Lensman books, the L2's--Worsel, Trigonsee, Nadrek of Palain VII, Kinnison of Tellus and Clarissa McDougal, the Red Lenswoman. And Van Buskirk with his Dutch Valerians with space axes.
From CL Moore, Jirel of Joiry, Northwest Smith and Yarol
From Leigh Brackett, John Eric Stark, dressed for the Martian Drylands--and the Drylanders themselves, with pipers and caravans and women riding like queens.
All 28mm, of course. But in 1/72 a small detachment of the French Foreign Legion with Buster Crabbe as Captain Gallant.

ZuluPaul,

These may be what you're not looking for.

Gokiburi20 Apr 2017 10:13 a.m. PST

The only thing I want at the moment is Samus Aran in her Varia/Gravity suit. Her original suit would be nice as well.

John Leahy Sponsoring Member of TMP20 Apr 2017 10:20 a.m. PST

I think Captain Gallant FFL were made in 1/72 scale. I have about 40 to 50 of them.

Thanks.

Tommy2020 Apr 2017 10:21 a.m. PST

Still hoping someone *cough* Knuckleduster *cough* will come out with 'not' Brisco County and gang in 28mm.

boy wundyr x20 Apr 2017 10:30 a.m. PST

From the Angry Piper's list, Samo Hung and Dolemite (didn't even know I wanted them till I saw his list…). But then I'd also want Jackie Chan, Jet Li, and Chow Yun Fat too, unless there's a source I don't know about. And Dolemite needs his Hamburger Pimp!

I'd like to see Babylon 5 figs, ideally in 15mm. I know some are kinda available from Blue Moon, but I'd like something requiring less squinting to make it so.

Weasel20 Apr 2017 10:35 a.m. PST

6mm vehicles based on the ancient Battle Isle computer games.

15mm figures for everything in the Destiny video game.

dBerczerk20 Apr 2017 11:02 a.m. PST

Baron Münchhausen, on foot and mounted on Bucephalus, in 54mm.

Bob in Edmonton20 Apr 2017 11:30 a.m. PST

Star Trek TOS minis in 25mm, especially aliens other Klingons. Romulans, Andorians, and Vulcans (beyond one of two poses) are hard to find!

STNG minis in 25mm are almost entirely absent.

robert piepenbrink Supporting Member of TMP20 Apr 2017 12:03 p.m. PST

Mind you, I don't do Western Gunfight, so a list would be cheating. But it would be a very long list, and there would be duplicates--at least two Wyatt Earps, two Bat Mastersons and two Doc Holidays, just to start.

Personal logo piper909 Supporting Member of TMP20 Apr 2017 12:06 p.m. PST

Queen La of Opar, as Russ Manning drew her in the comics.

Xena, Warrior Princess (once one was being made, but now…?)

"Colonel Anne" Mackintosh (the Jacobite rebellion of 1745)

British WWII Commandos in battledress with kilt, as worn on the St. Nazaire raid by many of No. 2 Commando.

Hippies from the 1960s.

W.C. Fields (I have converted one from a gangster range)

Willy Wonka (ditto, converted from a Victorian civilian)

Oompah-Loompahs!

The Wicked Witch of the West's "Winkie" guardsmen.

The Beatles, in various periods and looks.

Tarzan's loyal Waziri (altho' Masai in full regalia make adequate substitutes)

I'm sure I will think of others soon. Once I would have added Ned Kelly and his outlaw gang to this list, but now he's been done!

YogiBearMinis20 Apr 2017 12:06 p.m. PST

Krull, with the hand-scythe thingy
Harlem Globetrotters, to go with the Hasslefree not-Scoobies
Space 1999 (? Or are there these?)
Logan's Run sandmen and runners
Spaceballs

Gone Fishing20 Apr 2017 12:17 p.m. PST

Pulp characters like Indy, along with villains and their henchmen, in 54mm. To me the genre is made for that scale, or the scale for that genre, but except for some gangsters there isn't a lot out there. I suppose I should be thankful – it's saved me a good deal of money!

Cardinal Ximenez20 Apr 2017 12:31 p.m. PST

"The 13th Warrior" figures.

Stargate Atlantis main crew and Wraith baddies. I've wanted those for a long time.

Didn't we just do this?

Cardinal Ximenez20 Apr 2017 2:14 p.m. PST

Did we? I must have missed it.

SaltyDog20 Apr 2017 2:39 p.m. PST

I'm with Gone Fishing on this one. More Pulp in 54mm has long been my lament. Gone Fishing, if you haven't already please feel free to check out my blog link It has a lot of 54mm scale goodness. It seems we have a bit in common.
Cheers

I'm still not happy with the not-Jake Cutter options out there. Either they've got the wrong hat or the wrong jacket or both. And my modeling skills stink, so I'm not really into the whole "head swap" thing. In either 28mm or 1/72 (to go with my 1/72 Goose).

And the only not-Jack I've ever seen isn't a Jack Russell terrier, even a short-haired dog. If you can't do a Jack Russell, do a beagle. Or say that's what it is when the lawyers call. (Can someone really own the IP on a specific dog-breed in an eye-patch?)

As for SG:A not-Wraiths, any long-haired elf/Barbarian/goth type figs might stand in for those (great show-- we're rewatching it this month-- but the Wraith have got to be the lamest, most ludicrous science fiction alien race ever put on television. Space vampires who feed through their hands? And dress and look like punk D&D drow? *eye roll* But somehow the series made it work…)

And I don't care if they're "not" anything, but I still want my 10mm dwarf archers (with *bows*) for my LotR/Hobbit Warmaster gaming.

Gone Fishing20 Apr 2017 3:09 p.m. PST

Salty, it tickles me no end to see you post here. I was just ogling at your blog the other day, and while I've wanted such figures for a good long while, I'm sure that seeing your photos had it especially in my thoughts. You're doing some incredible work there!

First thing I thought is "What if he lives in the greater Los Angeles area! Could it be? Ah, Australia." Felt quite crushed. Perhaps I can stow away on a tramp steamer one of these days.

FYI My current project is 54mm Wild West. The two eras bear some similarities, I think, but unlike Pulp, there's a good deal of great stuff for WW in the scale.

Keep up the great work!

Daryl

The Angry Piper20 Apr 2017 3:24 p.m. PST

Parzifal: Jake and Jack just missed my list…I'm watching Tales of the Gold Monkey right now (got the DVD set for Christmas). It was a fun show. Someone (cough…Bob Murch…cough) should do a set with Jake, Jack, Corky, Sarah and Bon Chance Louie. Get a Grumman Goose in 1/48th and you're good to go!

Then, of course, he'd have to do Princess Koji, Reverend Willie, Todo and some samurai. You know…just for the opposition!

ElliesdadUK20 Apr 2017 3:24 p.m. PST

Marvin the Martian with a range of weapons (enough for a Hordes of the Thngs army).

Redroom20 Apr 2017 4:24 p.m. PST

Chayton Littlestone from the HBO series Banshee
Tyr Anasazi from Andromeda
Brisco County Jr – great call Tommy20
Damien Scott and Michael Stonebridge from Strikeback
President Camacho from Idiocracy

Non-specific aliens (ex: SG: A Wraiths) should be in separate category/poll IMO.

Winston Smith20 Apr 2017 5:16 p.m. PST

Pulp Fiction.

robert piepenbrink Supporting Member of TMP20 Apr 2017 5:43 p.m. PST

Terrement, The TV originals of all three--O'bBrien, Barry and there was a recurring Doc Holiday (Douglas Fowley) on Wyatt Earp, and the whole crew in the Tombstone black coats, and maybe tossing in Dennis Quaid from Wyatt (OK, that gives me three: sue me.)

Actually, I want the buildings, too: Warner Brothers' Laramie Street for a cow town, and Old Tucson for the Adobe of the southwest. The Big City would be taken from the old 40 Acre Lot which was GWTS's Atlanta, Jim Bowie and Yancy Derringer's New Orleans--and an alien planet in some Classic Trek. Wouldn't mind adding their "Arab Village" set to the southwestern adobe, either.

War Monkey20 Apr 2017 5:59 p.m. PST

The complete Star Wars series every figure every villain, every henchmen or women, every hero and heroine, ALL in 15mm!

Grignotage20 Apr 2017 6:00 p.m. PST

Grelber20 Apr 2017 8:14 p.m. PST

Foreign Legion movies had some stock characters I'd like to see: Evil Legion sergeant, sniveling Legion corporal/weasel, disgraced former Guards officer, Russian Giant
Major Beaujolais from the 1920s Beau Geste movies, dashing, and gone a bit native with a djelebbah worn over his uniform.

Mrs. Ethel Grimmond, "the heroine of Maniput."

Tully Bascom

The Galaxy Quest crew (with monsters, aliens, and Thermian allies, of course)

Thought of some more:

Orion Dancing Girls (aka "Orion Slave Girls")

Jonny Quest and companions, including Jezebel Jade.

Classic comic book superheroes and villains that are NOT Heroclix but sculpted in metal and of high quality, and including characters that HeroClix has not covered.

Spartan hoplites in full armor, Corinthian helmets, and cloaks.

Classic gangster characters from old films, such as those played by Edward G. Robinson, Humphrey Bogart, James Cagney, George Raft, etc.

General 20th century civilians who once wore identifiable liveries or uniforms, such as mail carriers, milkmen, repairmen, construction workers in hard hats, traffic wardens, deliverymen, medical personnel, fire fighters, telephone line workers, garbagemen, Salvation Army band and solicitors, door-to-door salesmen, Scouts (Boy and Girl), athletes.
