Does anybody know the monthly circulation of wargames magazines.

I would guess that it is fairly small – about 3,000 per month.

(My only evidence for this is a list of 500 most popular magazines in UK in 2015 finishes at 4,000 per month and there are no wargames magazines on the list.)

Are there any real figures published anywhere wich show which magazines are most popular?

i would not think any of the magazines would reveal that information as it might damage their business. This would be due to how few are actually sold?

In the USA, publishers are made to disclose their circulation (including samples, spoiled, returns, etc.), annually. Most have to publish those numbers in one of the issues after that company's fiscal year. I am not sure if that reqirement applies if under a set number, though. Someone should be along shortly to elaborate….

UK magazines can sign up for the ABC, which independently audits circulations. It's useful if a publisher wants an independently verified circulation figure to show advertisers. It's voluntary. As even one of the Doctor Who magazines had a circulation of only around 24,000 in 2015, a more specialised magazine would have a far lower circulation.

However, circulation is not so much of an issue for a specialised magazine because it reaches a targeted audience, not a general audience, and reaching 3,000 to 5,000 readers that have a particular interest in an advertiser's products is better than reaching 100,000 readers who have little or no interest.

None of the wargames magazines are listed on that site.

To answer the question, roughly 2,000 – 7,000.

Mick — following a couple of coversations I had at Salute, I'd revise that upper figure to around 10,000, depending on the issue.
