Hi I'm having trouble with understanding something about cavalry/mounted infantry in the game and wonder if anyone either agrees with me or can put me right? The game scale for a unit is either an infantry company or cavalry squadron and they both need 8 hits to be removed from play. The assumption here is that they are then of a similar size. Now with regards to the Anglo Zulu war and in British parlance, the basic cavalry sub unit was a troop (approx. 60 men). A squadron would in fact be 2 troops or 120 men. Further if we assume an infantry company to be 80-90 strong (debatable I know) it seems to me that the cavalry unit should need less hits to be removed: Inf Coy 80-90 men = 8 hits Cav Troop 60 men = 6 hits? What do other players of the game think? FH |

Perhaps because horseflesh can absorb more hits? H |

The bottom line is that it is up to you with regards to how many hits a unit can take Cavalry don't tend to last long in BFE2 – Imperial Cavalry last a bit longer due to the break-off rule so we always play 8 hits regardless of the unit strength Ferd45231's reason is as good as any |

The original BFE had 4 hits per unit. Chris Leach decided to change the number of hits to streamline the game mechanics and increase the number of hits infantry and cavalry take, creating a larger differential between MGs/Art and Inf/Cav. If you wish to have a house rule to change it, why not? you are playing the game. |
