I have been building Arthurian armies. Is it more appropriate for spearmen in one unit, say a DBA element, to all have the same shield design or different ones. Like shown here?

Given the total absence of historical evidence it's up to you, but we might perhaps assume that shield designs became more individualistic with the passage of time and weakening of the British sense of Roman identity – so more standardised designs for 5th century forces; less uniform for 6th and later centuries(?).
