Anyone fed up with peadot and autumn camo?, well im not yet so heres another 2 ab packs, pretty sure I didnt remove or add anything to these.

Usual rules apply, no boots and bases done, some little bits need finishing such as the officers map.
Ive made the autumn camo a bit more busy, I like it though I think I need new varnish as its making everything slightly darker than I painted it…the bottle is a few years old, I have an older bottle of the same make which has gone yellow (Daler and Rowney matt varnish)

1st up some officers
AB-ING42

The middle bloke I added a ss division arm band to his peadot tunic.
The chap 2nd from right I gave him a custom made italian camo smock……I think its a fallschirmjager smock, I purposely didnt paint piping on his hat.
The far right chap ive painted a knightscross ribbon around his neck though the medal is hidden from view.

Next up a bunch of prone boys
AB-ING41

The guy 2nd from left I think has a smock but because of his pose I thought id get away with painting him in a one piece italian camo overalls.

The middle guy with with the mg42 I painted him as having one piece italian overalls with a smock over the top (basically just painted his collar in italian camo as well) I think it looks quite nice.

They are lovely.

But they are ALL "far right chaps"….

christot21 Apr 2017 10:16 a.m. PST

just goes to show, when you have poor figures, a really good painter can make them look good, when you have decent figures, a really good painter can make them look amazing, when you have really good figures, and a really good painter, then the results truly attain another level.

Amazing. I apologize to the forum users because I know it may sound boring, but when I see such beautifully painted figures I always ask for a tutorial.

Hi, thx everyone, they all "far right chaps" because thats all I can paint at the moment..have started to practice with brit paras but im not super happy with them yet.

The blancoed webbing is a WIP at the moment, will keep trying different colour combos

1: The beret is not the right colour,
2: The trousers should be perhaps darker?

They are not finished because of the above questions and other bits need doing such as rear of radio set inside the canvas cover.
The shading hasnt really come out in the pics, I think with all camo schemes at this scale, you have to sacrifice a bit of realism for looking nice at this scale (well thats an excuse I like to use)

Kung..I have previously posted a peadot tutorial both on tmp and the guild

Figures look lovely! Trousers are fine. They appear to be a reasonable shade of British Khaki and there were all sorts of variations in dye lots, plus fading. Frankly, I think your shade is spot on.

Berets – you should perhaps go for a darker, duller "wine red" shade.

Daryl, I've followed your peadot tutorial (on some elheim figs) using the AK paints and was really pleased with the results. Not a patch on yours by a distance, but good enough for this lesser mortal.
Anyway, I was wondering if you could point me in the right direction for some similar guidance for autumn camo to mix in with it?
Would greatly appreciate it .

Huevans, Thx for the input and links…most helpfull

Christot, honoured to read someone has given it a go, would like to see some pics at some point.

I think with the autumn schemes its more difficult to set out clearly as you end up co stantly adapting it to suit the figures etc, im constantly redoing the colours such as the brown area, then the orange, back to the brown, highlight the orange, highlight the base colour, redo the dark brown areas.

Anyway I found this little tutorial quite helpful.

The 1/35 guys seem to do the light areas first then the dark.

I use the ak interactive autumn ss set.

I hope to do a tutorial asap to show how I apply it to my figures.
