Hey all

im just getting into civil war gaming and would like to know a little more about both Longstreet and Jackson.

are there any standout books about either?

also are there any books about the war in general that stand out too?

regards
Bryan

To my mind, this is still the best one volume history: link

I've not read widely on the man but, Robertson's book on Jackson is well written and I found it to be a good read.

For a full treatment of the war; Shelby Foote wrote a three volume history. For me at least – it is one of the most enjoyable pieces of military history that I've ever had the good fortune to pick up. Couldn't recommend it to anyone more highly.

If you're not up for a long book, instead of Battle Cry you would do well with Bruce Catton's The Civil War.
