Found a bargain at my local game store this weekend. A copy of the Firefly Yahtzee game.
While I'm not a big fan of Yahtzee, the collectible ship that doubles as game box and dice cup is almost perfect for 15mm gaming.
I suspect I'm not the first to post a link to this little item, but I was happy to pick it up in the discount bin at the game store. link

Here's a little more about the relative size/scale of the piece:

Well for $20 USD including shipping I ordered three. They'll be a fleet to surface vehicle in my games…. |

A miniature with dice? Not a bad deal at all! |

That's about 250 feet long by my estimation of the scale on the diagram. How long is the model? It looks very good for 1/300th (he says as a bit of a scale Nazi) if, I suspect, it's the best part of a foot long. Still a great find. John T EDIT: the cheapest I can find it on ebay with shipping (from the US of course) is £47.50 GBP. A bit different from the linked one at £13.00 GBP from Walmart… Damn! |

John, Length is @ 10". You've got a good eye. From a true scale perspective – 1/300 is a lot closer. If we take the online spec's of length = 269' as true, it works out to about 1/322. Funny, it never seems quite so large on the screen, but dramatic scale will vary about when squeezed into the television. Given typical ground scale distortions in games, I'm still happy to use it for my 15mm games. |

For a playable interior, the ship would probably end up MUCH bigger than what the specs would call for:

You can also shrink the paper minis down to 15mm or smaller if you wanted to. |

These sets have been out there since mid-2014. I have thought of getting one a couple of times. I just do 28mm, so it wasn't much use to me. |

My wife bought one for me and I will use it as a general light freighter when needed. |

Looks great to me. I'm jealous! Paid that much each, for several of Inara's little shuttle ornaments, which are perfect for 15mm scale as well. |
