Greetings, all!

3D printing adventures continue! 1/285 Type 61 tanks for my Gundam army.

The gashapon Mobile Suits are in 1/400, but I noticed a dearth of AFVs in that scale, so opted to go 1/285 for the smaller stuff.

The Type 61 is a canon AFV, (no pun intended!) being the mainstay of the Earth Federation Army before they developed their own Mobile Suits.

The turrets don't cost too much to print in Frosted Extreme Detail, but the hulls are too expensive to print each time, so into the silicone they will go.

Also, a spot of laser cutting provides a nice new home for my Mobile Suit forces. :)

- more to come soon!

Looks like they turned out very nicely! I'll be interested to see them painted up!

Looking great – FUD is such a superb medium for 6mm items as well.

Did you make the gundams too?

MacrossMartin16 Apr 2017 6:41 p.m. PST

Moe – No, I can't claim credit for sculpting or printing the Mobile Suits. :) They're all PVC gashapon (collectable figurines) by Bandai. There's a few sellers on Ebay, operating out of Japan.

VERY nice! Ya, the 1/400 scale T-61s I've seen that were 3d printed looked soooo tiny next to the Mobile Suits. Just didn't jive. I like your setup better!

I have not seen any 1/400 Type 61's on Shapeways, DSG. Where did you see them?

I was also thinking that gamers would prefer 1/285 if I offer these through my Shapeways store, given that 1/400 is a rather esoteric scale!

I believe Micro Master on Shapeways offers 1/400 Type 61 MBTs. He also offers some very nicely detailed ones a 1/285th scale which I think I honestly prefer given 1/400 scale is such an awkward scale when its in elation to terrain.
