This weekend the local HMGS-South group played a WWI naval game.
This fleet action is based on the Triple Alliance naval convention of 1913. Italian, Austro-Hungarian and German ships engage the French Fleet and block the Algerian troop transports.

I'm curious about the uniforms for this obscure but interesting little emigre outfit. I have seen some color plates that show black shakoes with red turbans, and the Osprey shows a red shako with a black turban; does anyone have any thoughts on which one is right?

Also, for those of us wi a curious fondness for emigres, is there a good book with a roundup of the uniforms for the regiments in British service? And does anyone have any good ideas about what makes of 15mm pieces could be repurposed for emigres? I suspect the short answer is "a lot of the Minifigs French Revolution British stuff," would be grateful for any other suggestions.

Which unit ?

The Bay of Algiers doesn't seem to be wearing uniforms. :)

Very interesting…but why on the Napoleonic Painting Guide?

Hi

The book your after is the Osprey 'Emigre Troops in British Service (Vol 1)' MAA328. There are also some plates re this unit in the 'Uniforms of 1798-1803' by G Thompson, Four Courts Press and finally you can find some of them on line here for nowt link

As for 15mm figures, as they wore various uniforms, any range covering the FRW should have something you can adopt

cheers

"Very interesting…but why on the Napoleonic Painting Guide?"

Caused by a forum bug.

Yes, exactly- I had just registered, and inadvertently failed to observe the "don't post for 3 days" rule. Kluged my post together with somebody else's.

Was asking about the curiously anachronistic Hompesch's Mounted Rifles. Have the Osprey book, but quick googling shows other variations, and I was just wondering which was the consensus color choice?
