I was there, and I watched my generation who lived, thought, and acted based on their GLANDS rather than brains.

No, I've not read this book, but the reviews/comments only repeat what I saw and experienced for myself.

I wouldn't have applied the word "Sociopath" to a generation, but a critically large number behaved in much the same way, living for the moment, their own gratification, and damning anyone who disapproved or disagreed.

They and their children are with us today….

Yes, and they teach today's youth. And as we see … IMO … that is very unfortunate.

I was born in 1948 and remember those years of the 60s very well (I guess I just failed to do enough drugs). The story of that decade is IMO a very complicated one that has not yet been fully and honestly documented. If you want to understand how the Civil Rights movement and the Hippie movement ended up in political upheaval, campus takeovers, riots in the streets, mayhem, robbery, murder and organized domestic terrorism, a good start would be to acquaint yourself with the history of the "New Left" in America and the elements that funded it. I'd suggest the works of David Horowits as a good start.

In 1967, we were having free concerts; by 1968, we got a couple of free songs followed by lengthy political harangues delivered by SDS activists. None of what occurred happened by accident.

If there was no Draft … the anti-war movement would have been a few people like Jane Fonda, Joan Baez, etc.

At that time. Most in the US didn't know where Vietnam, Laos or Cambodia was. And could have cared even less, what happened there or to who, etc., … It may as well have been on the dark side of the Moon.

You see a similar "phenomena" with many things "geopolitical", etc. today with many in the US population. Most couldn't find the places where US forces are in harms way on a map. Or again really care.
