I got some Tin Soldier European medievals a while back and hate them. Too big and huge heads. Are the Arabs any good or similar to the Europeans? What do they mix with in terms of other makers' lines?

Have a look for yourself. Heads seem to be large to me.

Hard to tell from that photo. Was hoping I could get some input from someone who owns them and mixes them with other figures.

All of the Tin Soldier minis I have have the same proportions.

I'll dig through when I get a chance to confirm – I have some spearmen and cavalry.

The same sculptor was irresponsible for all their ancients, dark ages and medieval figures. Apparently some people like them.

AFAIK only the Italian colonials were sculpted in a different style: more like Minifigs.

Thank you for the info gentlemen. A big pass on Tin Soldier then.

All the same. I have many armies of Tin Soldier figures and they are excellent. Before casting any stones at their figure proportions just take an objective look at their competition – 15mm all have disproportionalities, whoever makes them.

The only 'problem' I have with Tin Soldier would be mixing them in with others.

At least on the same base – just bought some more Gauls, Iberians, and Numidians (missed getting the Carthaginians).

The Elephants are a bit large for the standard 40x40mm base, but nice sculpts.

It may be the same sculptor but the style is different between the medievals and the Gauls which I have. The Gauls are a more 'main stream' style.

Swampster, Are the Gauls compatible with Essex 15mm? Also could you use Black Hat feudal infantry on the same base as Donnington New Era? Sorry for all the questions but I know from your blog that you have considered this. Thank you.

Apologies to Jeeves for the highjack.

Swampster16 Apr 2017 2:52 p.m. PST

I think the TS Gauls are bigger than the Essex Gauls.
The Black Hat Feudal infantry would be a reasonable match in style for Donnington.

Thank you.
