So I put in a couple of hours yesterday and got the first batch of cannon and crew finished, to celebrate I got out my 1/48th scale model of Fort Matanzas and deployed the guns and crews onto it. Take a look if you like link Suggestions, criticism, and ideas are all welcomed |

Your figures and guns look great. The fort is very nice but a tad too clean for my taste. Looks like it was freshly painted. |

During he colonial period Spanish forts were given a fresh coat of shell plaster every year or two (unless the local authorities embezzled the funds). The plaster is made of burnt seashells and is brilliant white. But I agree it is a bit stark-looking maybe a wash or two of a soft brown would tone it down. I have to complete the rest of my Caribbean terrain before I decide on weathering, I like to do everything at once so that it matches. |
