Obviously this has SPOILERS!!!! in it.
You have clicked at your own risk.

I, and others, had thought that Homeland had gotten …. squishy this season. Suddenly Carrie is working for a Muslim charity?
After all she had done previous 5 seasons?
Note: I have binge watched all previous seasons, two or three episodes per night. And almost caught up. grin So I kind of resented having to watch the final two episodes like "normal people".

Suddenly she was confronted with "rogue elements" in the intelligence community, a Hillary clone, right wing talk radio/internet/tv scoundrel.
She was representing an adorable Muslim blogger who was accused of terrorism when the Bad Guys blew him up.
Dar Adal! Or was he?

So the Bad Guys smeared "Hillary's" son who was killed in Iraq.
They made stuff up. When the assassination attempt was foiled by Quinn, (his death was necessary to the plot; he had a very good run) things settled down.

The Right Wing Guy was ranting then about the police state crackdown. Suddenly he was right! Mass arrests of the new President's enemies! The Right Wing guy was right! What a swerve that was. It reversed 99% of the season.

There are two more seasons left.
Seasons 1-3 were dedicated to making Brody miserable.
4-6 made Quinn miserable.
Saul was among those rounded up. Will he fill 7-8?
Will Carrie return to her 1-5 views?

I think Homeland should have ended when Brody died, as I expect the original Isreali series did.

Probably right. Some of the seasons were as repetitive as on 24.

I lost interest last season. I watched the first 15 minutes of episode one this year and turned it off for good.

I never made it past the first episode.

Timing was wrong for me. Only time for one war on terror type show.

I watched the "Feel Good" show Strike Back instead.

Strike Back +1.

She was NOT working for a "Muslim charity". she was working for a legal office that defended the rights of immigrants, some of whom were Muslim.

I liked the whole season, but the end left a sour taste. We have the female President-elect as the the "good guy" the whole season, only to have the writers reveal her as the second coming of Uncle Joe Stalin in the last 5 minutes.
NOTHING about her up to then hinted that such was possible.
shades of the film "No Way Out", which also tried to get cred by messing with everyone who saw it.
No cred. Just writers thinking they're cute.

Faithful follower of all seasons …. the final twist hit my stomach … I did not like it at all … it seemed like a long movie that unexpectedly … they decide to finish it killing all its protagonists …

What happened to the social visitor of "the others" and Carrie's daughter? … can anyone believe that with Carrie's political connections, NOBODY could give her a hand to get her daughter back? … come on!

Why do they imprison Saul? … does not make sense! …

Sad and bad ending for a good Serie…

Motivated for the "Trump Effect"?…

I think the whole purpose of this season, particularly the final 10 minutes, was to set up a rip roaring final 2 seasons.

Totally agree!.

The series has been a mixed bag or sorts, some seasons stronger than others in a roller coaster kind of way. Sad to see Quinn go but I didn't like post-stroke where he was mumbling and not making much sense. Dar is an awesome character and F. Murray Abraham plays him to a tee.

Regarding the season finale, I like how the new president goes from an idealist to a repressive tyrant. Her personal views on the media, which assassinated the character of her son and her, and the intel community, which attempted a coup d'état, certainly can be rationalized. I'm sure she thinks she's defending "freedom" by putting the boot down on others she thinks are thwarting it.

Looking forward to next season.
