Hi all, Woke up this morning and saw that the new 3D Builder program was there in Windows 10. Just go to applications and it's sitting right there.3D Builder allows you to make and 3D print in the comfort of your own home. Here is a screen shot of it.Somebody's made a train.
And here is the printed model.
The program is compatable with all these 3D printers. link Holy cow! You can even save in all these formats STL, OBJ, which are able to be sent to Shapeways if you don't have a printer yourself. In the print options it even says it will send to a company who will print your model and post it to you! What is the world coming to? Now I'm off to see if I can convert some of the things I've made using Sketchup and see if I can import them as, at the moment 3D Printer doesn't seem to support DAE files. Anyone used this program yet for miniatures, vehicles, terrain? Edit. I managed to export this Hex from Sketchup to 3D Builder using a converter plugin. Hoorah. link |

And that's another reason I'm not loving on Win10. Software that Microsoft just KNOWS I want, but am never going to use and takes up space on MY hard drive in the process. Now, git off my LAWN! |

Sounds neat, especially if it includes a 3-D Printer with the software bundle. MS updates are playing havoc with my PC, so I am less than enamored with the company right now. It won't boot up after the latest "patch", unless I use the system backup, so at some point, I expect another PC crash. Due to using the backup, it doesn't have the latest, greatest updates, but those don't work, and cause my computer to hang up while turning on. Not sure which is worse – MS programmers or hackers. Right now it's a toss-up, with MS perhaps slightly in the lead. |

It's been there for a while. I tried it and decided Autodesk's now withdrawn 123D Design was better (read way easier). Maybe I'll give another go. |
