salute is the biggest wargame show we have. I am very grateful to the Warlords for putting it on. Lots of gamers do go along to it . This is addressed to those that intend to go. This is not to counter the other thread about the show.
What are you looking forward to? If there is nothing you are looking forward to then this is not the thread for you.
I personally am looking forward to the excitement of seeing all those games!

Getting home at the end of what is a long day!!!!!

Putting on the demo game and chatting to those who come and see us…

Well, I'm personally looking forward to having the whole day to actually visit the show to report on it, rather than either help run it, help the organisers run it, or run a game (as I have done for almost the entirety of the last forty years…).

It'll be a new experience for me!

My friends and I are coming across the pond this year to go to Salute for the first time. Look forward to checking everything out.

Sounds like a good show!
I am looking forward to Historicon as well. Both show are great for a really good gossip!

I am not attending (living too far away), but if I would have the opportunity to show up one year, my biggest priority would be making my way to the Perry stand to see what upcoming releases they are revealing for the first time.

Coming from Sydney so looking forward to my first Salute since the early 90s when it was in Kensington Town Hall. Just going to soak it all in.

Meeting lots of people that I 'know' as a result of my blog, WARGAMING MISCELLANY, visiting the CWS stand, and seeing the new Perry Travel Wargame.

Having got a job as unless I do I can't go!

All of it. Is it best to get sandwiches to take in or are there plenty of places to eat inside?

John Treadaway12 Apr 2017 7:41 a.m. PST

There's plenty of places on "the concourse" to eat:

Sandwiches will be cheaper, mind you…

Thanks John, think it'll be sandwiches as I don't want to waste precious time!

How many people visit Salute?

John Treadaway12 Apr 2017 10:35 a.m. PST

I think last year it was (including concessions) the thick end of 6000 through the door plus about 600 gamers with the games and so forth. Plus about a thousand traders.

But I'm only going on memory.

I look forward to temptation and meeting up with friends some of whom I will not have seen for 2 days!

Cerdic12 Apr 2017 12:27 p.m. PST

I look forward to seeing the spectacular games and hopefully playing in one or two of them.

Putting on a game with my sons and nephew.

lesbt6516 Apr 2017 6:13 a.m. PST

Don't forget to go along and play the excellent Peter Pig taster game, deliberately arranged to only be a short extracted game to give new players a taste for a Vietnam infantry game.

Very friendly gamers running the games through the day.

Seeing the new games/rules being demoed

Seeing the impressive big games

Seeing the small and fairly insignificant game that I just really like for some unfathomable reason

Buying something I didn't know I was going to

Just having a really enjoyable few hours doing something I find pleasurable.

bc174523 Apr 2017 12:50 p.m. PST

Yep was right the best thing was the pizza and beer once I got home after a 15 he day……..
