Here's a couple of WIP shot of some conversions of mounted militia that I am making for the Southern Theater.
The front row are conversions of mounted officers for VA, SC, Loyalist, Philly Associators and some others

The figures are all Perry AWI cavalry of various units. I removed the heads and replaced them with KMM heads.
You can see in the last row that the horsemen are, indeed, headless!!

The middle row has some mounted militia carrying muskets to the battle. I used Perry plastic "at the trail" arms from the British set.
I cut the bayonets off, drilled into the plastic and glued some wire into the arm. I then stuck a small ball of green stuff into the arm socket.
I test fitted the arm and then super glued it all in place.

I've always wanted riders carrying muskets, ever since I saw Bill Gaskins' AWI mounted men in Wargames Illustrated, years ago.
This is just the first batch. I have several other mounted castings that I need to convert to finish these off.

Your collection is very interesting. Thanks for the inspiration!

Bill. I took the Old Glory Mad Anthony Wayne range Kentucky hillbilly cavalry and put a few leftover Kings Mountain heads on those whose heads needed replacing, and could be removed easily.
I just primed them dark brown, so it's kind of hard to see details. I'll try to post pics when finished.

Coincidentally, it's for a Kings Mountain gaming project!

By the way, the Mad Anthony Wayne cavalry I referenced are all in hunting shirts and all carry muskets.

John, I have those also. I used them in small dioramas that I was going to use as "the road to Kings Mountain" type scene.

I didn't do conversions on them like you did though. I just used them as is.
Love to see what you did.

They look terrific, Bill. I know exactly what you mean about those WI Bill Gaskin pics – they helped get me into the period!

Oh man really cool.

I second the Bill Gaskin pics.
