The deadline approaches for U.S. citizens to file their tax paperwork. If you're getting a refund, how much (in percentage) do you plan to spend on the hobby? |
Titchmonster | 10 Apr 2017 11:15 p.m. PST |
10% which is the deal I have with my wife. |

No refund. And given the backlog of unpainted castings, no need for one. |
Rrobbyrobot | 11 Apr 2017 4:39 a.m. PST |
As much as I can get away with. I like to think of it as doing my bit for the US economy… |

Split the refund check with the missus, and spent part of it on some FoW/Team Yankee stuff. Shelled out $100 USD plus to the state. Rest on normal expenses. |
GatorDave | 11 Apr 2017 6:52 a.m. PST |
I'm planning on 25%. Have to convince the admiral first! |
Garand | 11 Apr 2017 6:57 a.m. PST |
I already have mine. I don't do set percentages, but I did spend $100 USD right off the bat to make at an "even" number. Then I started the process of paying off bills that have been accumulating. Oh that and an emergency washing machine purchase… :( To be fair I got one on sale: originally $700 USD, but I got it for $500 USD not including installation fees, new tubes & haul away fee for the old one (and the new one is sooo hi-tech! No analogue dials here!). Still have my county & local taxes to pay coming up at the end of May… Damon. |

jdpintex | 11 Apr 2017 7:39 a.m. PST |
0%, but I did get a new car so I'm still ahead. I did spend a slice of my bonus for a big order from Warlord Games. |

None, tax refund is house money, not hobby money. |
dsfrank | 11 Apr 2017 8:52 a.m. PST |
over the course of the year – much more than any IRS refund I've ever gotten – like every year – but I never go out of my way to spend when the refund hits just because it is there – so I may not actually be answering the question asked. |

All $35 USD went on wine, women and song. Actually, beer, one woman (wife) and the recorded music our local Austrian bistro was playing. |

Refund? You mean the zero-interest twelve-month loan I gave the government last year that it's condescending to return to its rightful owner? That refund? I'll see what the CPA says, but if any does come back to us, it will go towards the used car we're looking for to replace our totaled one. |

My what? What is this you speak of? A refund? How does one get such a thing? I jest. We pay, we pay, we pay. Too little to itemize anymore – though do need to adjust our deductibles. |
