New 10mm figure range kickstarter from lancer
link

Mollinary10 Apr 2017 11:40 a.m. PST

I might be very interested in these, but would need some idea of sculpt quality, and size comparison with my existing Pendraken/AIM/Minifigs collections. And whether pikemen have moulded pikes or open hands.
Prices seem very reasonable, so that is not really the question for me.

hopefully get some more pictures up in next few days, working on mould at moment. have left pikemen openhanded as that's what was requested, and prefer it myself, I don't have any pendraken to show comparison, but same height if that helps

Mollinary10 Apr 2017 1:03 p.m. PST

Thanks for that. Just seen the pictures for the foot masters. They are beautiful, I will be backing this.

I have just modified my pledge to two armies, but still only £1.00 GBP postage. Have I done this correctly, the site does not seem to be set up for pledges of multiples of any of the levels? Thanks for your help, sorry to be a pain, but this is my first kickstarter!

Hi

I've had a look at the Kickstarter page, your web site and your Facebook page but I can't see any pictures of masters. Could you put a link up so I can see them? Unfortunately not living in EU I can't back the KS but I will have a look for later.

Cheers

Click on updates, and a page titled first masters comes up. Click on that and the picture of foot masters, officer, drummer, two pikemen and two musketeers, come up. Very nice they are too!

Firstly thanks for your support on this, I actually didn't mean to start it as quick as I did, thought I would have three days while kickstarter accepted it, so was going to spend those days to get all the pictures done and make the site a bit more interesting, but ho hum, hit accept too many times and bam it started. Kickstarter is a bit of a pain for small item as it wont allow part of pounds ie you cant do 75p it has to be a pound, hence armies and units seemed the best way to go. Mollinary thought it would double postage if you only pay £1.00 GBP for postage then my loss your gain don't worry you will still get the figures. Grumpy old man, yes you can pledge if you want but only for the army, postage just worked out silly for smaller amounts.

Mollinary11 Apr 2017 4:55 a.m. PST

Thanks for the response. I am very happy to pay the extra pound for postage to get the two armies! Should I go back in and try and alter the sum to £48.00 GBP? Anyway, really looking forward to getting these to add to my 5,000 + ECW figures!

It has now accepted my change to £48.00 GBP, but it doesn't seem to have accepted that I have pledged for two starter armies rather than one!

Cheers Mollinary, fear not, it has from this end, 2 armies will be sent. and 5000 + ECW that's pretty extreme, I take it you do 1/1 scale in your games

Thanks Lancer! I suppose I could do one to one for a lot of battles, but normally I operate on about 1:10 ro 1:15. This means I can do pretty well every battle of the war. Have just done Edgehill at the Wargames Holiday Centre with about 2,200 figures on the table. You can find some photos here on Simon Miller's blog, bigredbat.blogspot.co.uk

Hi Lancer,

If you were to do a size comparison, can I suggest you also look at getting an Old Glory and an AIM/Caliver/Mini figs one as well as Pendraken? I have some of all in my collection and while Pendraken and AIM/C/M cavalry are entirely compatible and pretty well identical in size, Pendraken foot are smaller than AIM/C/M. Old Glory are a bit smaller in both cavalry and foot figures.

I think Mollinary's suggestion is a good one. It's really helpful to see the size comparisons if you are building an army and want as many varied poses as possible. I would also add Irregular Miniatures into the mix.
(They are somewhat smaller and thinner).

For what it's worth I have a couple blog posts that have some comparison photos:

GdG,

Your comparisons are great and extremely useful. I would however, disagree with you on one point. If you take the figures as representing just under 6ft, then Pendraken's pike is no longer than 12ft, max. And the Minifig one is about 17-18ft. This is the main reason all my existing pikemen are Minifigs. I have, however, used Pendraken for my new Montrose force.

Guillaume deGuy12 Apr 2017 11:34 a.m. PST

Thanks Mollinary and I think you are correct about the pike length – my calculations are a bit off. Incidently, I shortened the minifig pikes to match the Pendraken (a bit of a heresy but they fit in the same low-profile storage boxes).

I liked your Montrose force when I saw it but haven't seen it action yet or did I miss the post?

Mollinary12 Apr 2017 12:31 p.m. PST

No, it still sits waiting for a game in the queue! I have been focussed on Edgehill for the last couple of months, and on continued replays of my 'Archers' ( an incredibly long running British rural radio soap opera) themed game of Lessie' s Moor. I must create a scenario for Montrose, and then get going. I will post further when I finally get around to it!

As promised have posted a comparison shot of a Pendraken figure with one of my figures, the pendraken is an Austrian Napoleonic, but its all my friend could find, but should give you good idea of the size.

Lancer5802 May 2017 1:04 a.m. PST

The Cavalry trooper pictures have been added to the kickstarter. Without the officer, he is going back to be tweaked. Busy casting up every day, so the armies can go out soon as possible.

Lancer5807 May 2017 3:16 a.m. PST

My sculptor has told me the cavalry officer is in the post, and with the adaptions I wanted done, also a cavalry trooper aiming pistol, so he will be mixed in with the sword armed troopers to add a bit more variety. Right well Sunday or not I had better get back up to the workshop and carry on casting.

Mollinary15 May 2017 2:23 a.m. PST

Mine arrived in the post this morning. The figures are very clean castings, I particularly like the infantry and artillery. The guns are beautiful. The cavalry are a bit chunky for my personal taste, but I am sure they will paint up OK. On the question of compatibility, the infantry are entirely compatible with Pendraken.figures. The horse are rather larger than the older Pendraken figures, more like chunkier versions of the new LoA sculpts. The variety in the infantry is excellent, and a I am very pleased with my purchase, and the service. Well done Lancer!

Glad all arrived safely. The cav I like being big Bleeped texts ie hunters, but not to everyones taste I realise, the dragoons will be going on smaller cheaper horses in fact welsh cobs sound about right. Anyway enjoy painting them, I am looking forward to seeing peoples painted armies on the web.

Hi Kievan,

Looking forward to the rest of the range, particularly the personalities – you can never have too many personalities! Also looking forward to seeing the officer for the horse, as there were none in my little package. Painting some foot as we speak, they really are beautifully detailed and crisply cast.

Silly me, the officers have a sash and no carbine. I am afraid in my rush through the figures I did not notice the differences from the ordinary troopers. Mea Culpa!

Phew had me worried for a minute, in fact too late have sacked the missus who was in charge of counting.
I best get down to a florist.
