We tried Leman Russ out yesterday along with his puppy friends and my new Castellax too. I got these when the Inferno book came out and had them painted in about a week but this is the first chance I had to see them in action.

I obviously need more Space Wolves to make for a really interesting game, as the Thousand Sons slaughtered the troops but were ultimately destroyed by Russ himself and nothing they had was really likely to destroy the primarch. I think I put about half a dozen wounds on him during the course of the game but he ended it with only 1 after healing a few times thanks to the It Shall Not Die thing he has going on.

I've put together a squad of Grey Slayers and will start painting them tonight. Those 15 models will make things a bit better and I have a couple of Rhinos that will add to the force and make it more mobile as well, transporting the two veteran squads around.

I'll need one more Grey slayer pack and I also have two dreadnoughts that needs to be painted. Once all of that is done they should be a good force.

Yup, this is why we had Vortex grenades back in the old days.

Yeah, now you actually have to think about how to deal with things rather than resort to the ol vortex grenade. It must suck for some people.

Actually, back then you needed to know that your big nasty miniature was going to be Vortex bait.

So knowing that going into a game you did not count on it to win you the game, unlike today.

Made you work with your other units, because they were going to be the ones that would win the game.

The other evil grenade was the…

Virus Grenade

Once lost nearly half my Eldar army to one.

But knowing how to use what units/models left still almost won me the game and would have if it had gone one turn.

Cool, primarchs tend to unbalance things but if they're alone they can't get many objectives, also the eldar kill them pretty fast.

The new edition's lascannons promise to be good vs multiwound models with D6 wounds caused. Guilliman will have 19 tho…
